I use Gaia in the bathwater like a bubble bath - just a squirt or two in the bath. Have been using it since day dot.

I wouldn't use J and J on myself let alone bubs!

What is so bad about J&J products? I've noticed quite a few BB girls are against J&J but I don't understand why. I'm guessing it's to do with the chemicals in their products but really, are they that bad? Any info would be appreciated!

We have never had any problems with J&J products...I love the smell of the milk bath.

i have started using 'Burt's Baby Bees' shampoo and wash on my sons and it is absolutely divine. no over-powering smells and their hair is so soft and beautiful.

I use QV bath oil and QV cream on DD. She has eczema.

Some of my friends swear by the J&J natural stuff but it caused DD more rashes. But i think it is more a trial and error as diff babies have diff skin types and reaction.

J & J baby oil is petrochemical based. A friend who is a midwife says that the products are quite harsh on a newborns skin. Another friend has used J&J when her child was older (I think it was about a year). I guess it depends on your beliefs and what products you want to use.

I have very sensitive skin and find the J&J soaps (and most normal soaps) dry my skin out, so I wouldn't use it on bubs.

A massage therapist who came to our mums and bubs group said she wouldn't use baby oil on her bubs due to the mineral oil base. Plus I guess you can use cheaper options (ie no bath products and olive oil as a mosituriser).

Tis purely a personal decision.

Tauren - Yep what Tarkin wrote - lots of chemicals in J & J even their "natural" stuff is pretty loaded with chemicals - a lot of companies think that if you add some herbal extracts you can call it natural and it will be OK. Pm me and I can send you a link to some articles on the SLS and other nasties in a lot of our shower products. I have read that J&J "no more tears" formula actually contained a anaestetic to stop the stinging which means kids can get it in their eyes and not wash it out which can actually lead to eye damage.
