Unfortunaltey the vbest & narrowest booster seat avaiable out there right now, which is actually the safest, and cheap is an infa secure brand one, but due to the new laws it cannot be used for any child under the age of 4 because it doesn't have a 5 point built in harness. we have a 2 1/2 yo and cannot buy the narrow seat due to the new laws, so we will be waiting & hoping a more narrow seat is released, or living with what we have until he is old enough.

I just wanted to add, that to counter the infa (trek 8 I think it is) seat issue, they have brought out a new seat called the Infa Comfy Cruiser, which is a convertible/booster.
We have just put DS into his and I really like it. It's alot smaller than DD's car seat, has the 5 point harness, a sun shade etc etc, and turns into the booster seat by taking the 5pt harness out once your child reaches 18kgs. ( it is also supposed to be the safest booster seat on the market)
DS will be 3 in July, is about 13kgs, 98ish cms tall and fits in his seat really well. He will use this seat until he reaches the limits and is out of a car seat altogether.
It's also cheaper than a SNS.

I've been looking at that one too, and if we get one that will be it, but I measured the base and it's still not as small as I would like.

cars are so narrow these days.

thanks ladies, i'll have a look at that one! Surely the companies would be jumping at the opportunity to flood the market with new compact seats now that the new laws have come into place. What a marketing opportunity!!!!
