Breastfeeding pillow

OMG they are a rip off! I'd love to buy one but i absolutely refuse to pay $70 for one. I think ill just purchase a banana pillow. Anyone else do this?

Also - we really got rorted today. We bought a u/s frame to give to our parents, well, honesty $40 on a plain white frame was rediculous. I am going to look for some cute little baby stickers and do them up, they are just too plain for my liking

I bought a b/f pillow last week, a Milk Bar one for twins (it wraps around boths your sides and does up at the back). I agree they are exxy, but if I am going to try and feed the twins at the same time I will really need the pillow for assistance. I can then use it when they are older and taking bottles for them to feed themselves. For DD I just have a cheaper type of wrap around pillow, but she wouldn't b/f but it still came in handy as extra support when I was feeding her a bottle. Now she uses the pillow herself to have her morning and evening bottle.

I just use whatever is near me. Most of the time my leg propped against the arm of the couch. Occasionally I've grabbed one of DS Teddy bears and whacked that under my arm XD

I never had one with DD, I just used to use one of those U shaped pillows and that seemed okay however it was a bit low I found it.....this time around, I've bought myself one (we had a voucher ) and although bub is due in May, I've already started using it for myself at night between my legs!! So it's getting LOTS of use!!! I think it's worth it. I got the Milk Bar one.

i just use one of those boomarang shaped pillow and they are great - get a big fluffy one tho!

Ok I have an almost 3 week old bub and GET A BF PILLOW!!! Or at least a nice big thick solid one that goes around you... because I don't have one, I am just using a normal pillow and it sucks!!! It'd be SO much easier to feed with a nice thick, firm, high pillow that went around my tummy... We don't have the $$ to buy one right now but as soon as BB and FTB come in, it's the first thing I am buying... I would honestly think it is worth the $70 if it saves my back, my arms and my boobies!! (she stretches the nipple sometimes if I don't prop her up enough and it hurts!!!)

I was using a banana pillow but was having all sorts of attachment issues, so i went out to buy a breastfeeding pillow. I was lucky and scored one for $30 on sale at Babies Galore, and it was worth its weight in gold! Keep looking till you find a cheap on, you won't regret it at all!

I have one that doesn't suit me (I'm a larger build - ie big belly and boobs even when not pg). Happy to send it your way for postage and $10. will put a pic up soon as I download it (it's a Ryco brand one)

Thanks for all the advice girls - especially with attachment issues as appletree suggested, this was an issue for me when i tried Bf'ing DD. I'd really like to give BF my all this time around!

I just used a regular spare pillow we had in the spare room, it was quite a firm one and worked a treat

Guess what? You just don't need a pillow - they are likely to be more hinderance than help. Invest in an Australian Breastfeeding subscription and breastfeeding education class instead

I got a milk bar pillow 2nd hand but not used for $20 and loved it as I have a big bust it made it easier in the 1st weeks

Completely agree with Barb. I never had a pillow and when I have seen people with them I am glad I didn't have one. If you do get one, don't rely on it all the time, make sure you can feed without it aswell. I watched my cousins wife feed her bub at a party when we both had month old bubs. By the time she had set herself up with the pillow I was done. So much easier just getting the positioning right by yourself.
