Question Bumbo... Bebepod...? Anyone have either (or something similar?)

I've been looking online at the Bumbo, and the Bebepod, as a seat for Jazz. We have a rocker which sits up but she always turns her head to lay on the flat spot so the CHN said its probably best to stop having sitting up time in the rocker. She sits up well against me but gets frustrated that she can't see me so our sitting up play time tends to not last long like that. I've tride proping with pillows but she just slides all over the place.

I have a question though, Jazz is a chubba and has very chunky legs. How do you think she will go? I haven't seen the seats up close, I'm not exactly sure where I can buy one from that is close to me. I think there is a store about an hour away that stocks both but since I don't have my license and Shel HATES driving close to the city, I'd like to know that we might actually buy one instead of just driving to look.

Oh, and anything else important about them that I should know? Apart from not putting them on the kitchen bench, and that they can topple backwards if they push their legs down.

I borrowed a Bumbo from my friend for DS2 and it was fantastic. He is a chubba and his legs fit in it with no probs . I like the way the seat slopes back, making it harder for them to topple out. It was so handy because I could take it from room to room while I was doing things around the house and it was great for sitting him in outside while hanging out the washing.

I have sold a couple of Bebe Pods before, they look nice, but from memory I don't think they are as big as a Bumbo.

I have a bumbo. I find it absolutely fantastic.
If you were to place your DD on the floor, without her leaning back against you, but you supporting her by holding her lower back/thighs more for stabilisation, would she be able to sit like this (support her back by herself, hold hersefl up etc)? I ask this because if she cant support her back fully, it wouldnt be a good idea to get the bumbo. Bumbos are designed for babies who can support themselves. If they cant it can do a lot of back damage. While your DD would be able to sit in it, she would 'slump' to the side, and if she cant get herself up, itll mess with her spine. I hope that all makes sense?
My nearly 2yo nephew could sit in my bumbo, just for a size idea

ETA: When i say Bumbo in my post i mean all brands of bumbo type seats

I agree with Baby Designer - I was told unless they can support their own backs and head then they shouldn't be in "made" to sit. It's okay to sit them on your lap but never propped up. They should only sit when they are ready to and can do so from crawling. In saying that my DD sat way before crawling but it was just fluke that one day when she was sitting against me I realised she was holding her own weight.

I have a Bumbo and I love it love it love it! I got the table that goes on it - and Immy sits up well in it. The back support is great! It is really light and portable. Great for taking out.

My 4 year old can sit in it - so chubby legs should not be an issue!!!

I have one of each for my twins. My DD is a chubba (nice rolls on the legs lol) and she fits in both. The babepod we borrowed off a friend and although they doesn't use it anymore their 13 month old son can still fit into it. The bumbo is a little higher at the back also.

I don't have either, but from what I'm told the Bebepod is better for chubby legged bubbas.

We bought a bumbo for DD#2 and have used it for #3 and will use for #4.

We use it as a high chair to when over at people houses for dinner/lunch.

We've also taken ours to the beach, for her to sit on the sand.......

    IMO best baby product investment......
