Most car seats have an expiration date on them, if not, usually it's 6 years after date of manufacture.

Ive only ever used Safe n Sound seats with my kids until they get to around 3 and then i switch seats to Infa Secure brand which will last until they are 7/8 years of age.

The strider plus pram does take other capsules. I know it takes the Steelcraft Orion capsule from big w.
