    Change table mats

We have a wooden change table that has edges, it is from Babyco. Which mat have you found best for your change table?

One with moulded sides? or just a flat pad to create cushioning?

    Too many decisions to make.

    Thanks

I have the same one -with the raised sides, from memory it was about $25 from Target and is plastic, I just use a cloth terry nappy over it too- easy to chuck in the wash if it gets dirty rather than pulling a cover on and off all the time! The sides do help them not to roll all the way over too.

just measure the change table surface area before you go to the shop, since the mats come in different sizes.

I got one with moulded sides too from Kmart. Best money I ever spent - she also used to sleep a lot on it as a newborn either on the floor with a bunny rug wrapped around the sides or on the bed.

I got one with the towelling cover cos it feels more snuggly. Plus I put a towel over it (kind of defeating the purpose of the cover!) so the cover stays clean.

we got the moulded plastic one, used a flanno nappy to line it. when he outgrew the cradle, I started using the mattress protector to line it.

I have a moulded vinyl covered rubber one too. I had to order the one that came for the particular change table becasue standard ones didn't fit. A cloth nappy folded in half fit perfectly down the centre for cover and I could just change it every day.

So noone recommends a specific cover for the change table pad then? Ours is bare vinyl and I was thinking that might be cold. I have terry nappies though, might just lay one of those down.

I just used a flanellete nappy on mine most of the time.
I did buy a gorgeous change mat to go on top of the vinyl when I was pg, but it was pg brain & being extravagent, and it cost waaaaaaaaaay too much ($44, it was REALLY nice though and you cant buy the fabric in Australia)
