Change table- Yes or No?

HAVE NOT got one here either i use my bed .... but ds can stand now so a lot of help .... (new born babies different story but you would get used to being without)

I have a dodgy back, pelvis, hip you name it and I've found there are pros and cons. I've always used a change mat on top of chest of drawers and put nappy stuff in top drawer. Hate the open shelves of most change tables.

Definitely easier when they are babies as you're standing up straight.

Not so easy when they're toddlers and you have to lift them which hurts my back. I tend to only do that for poos. Otherwise it's easier to just use pull ups and change her standing up.

I havent used a change table in ages. We just change where ever. I honestly found ours to be a waste of space. I have a caddy for the nappies and wipes but that is about it.

Wish we hadnt bothered and spent a bit more and got a chest of drawers then got a change mat that sits on the top. Would have been much more useful in the long term and would have served the same purpose as the change table. I find doing all changes on the bed either bad for my back from bending or harg on my knees if Im kneeling!

I never planned on getting one. wasn't on my 'must need' list. but then we came across a dark wood basically brand new ones at a garage say for about $70 (i think it was). so had to snag it up. and now I love it!! we don't have one at mum and dads and I spend a few nights there every month or 2 and to get sick of changing her on the bed of floor. my back really doesn't like it. so am glad we did get one.

I have one on rollers and have always found it a piece of practical baby furniture. I frequently move it around to suit my current needs. I didn't spend much on a new one and I'm always seeing cheap 2nd hand ones in Gumtree or FB buy sell groups. I like the high sides for wriggly toddlers too but once she was about 18 months it was pretty obsolete other than for storage & putting stuff on it. Coming in use again with a new baby though.

Didnt get one for dd1 but i got a chest of drawer change table thing for dd2 and its great!!!

When she grows older i just need to pull it off and it becomes a normal chest of drawers.

So id say yes too

We have this too. Best idea!

My SIL uses the chest of drawers with a mat on top and loves that too.

I had a great birth and I still found it hurt my back changing on a bed.

had one for dd1 but not dd2. just used the bed/lounge/floor.

I'd be lost without mine! I find bed and floor changes annoying and painful (on my lower back especially) when I'm out let alone doing it all the time. So yes, if it were me I'd definitely get another.

This is my opinion. I also use it to dry DD after her bath or shower. Everything is on hand, so I find it so easy and convenient

I'm still using mine and she's 14 months old. It makes restraining her easier to get it done as its a night mare on any other surface.

We got a second hand dining table for free, and a length of kiddie patterned flock backed vinyl to cover it, and one of those cheapie short book cases ... the book case site sideways, and stores the cloth nappies, perk cloths, and other bits and pieces, sudocrem and talc and whatever all sit on top, and the change mat is one the left side, and the baby bath (for the 5 minutes we used it!) goes on the right. The nappy bag and baby shoes sit in the middle

We never bothered with a change table - this table will be heaps more handy, and there's dining tables a-plenty on freecycle (and can be re-freecycled when you're done!).

After justo having been on holidays for a week I am def glad to have a change table! DS crawls off the minute he is nappy free and he is very hard to wrangle to get another nappy on! It is slightly easier on the change table and at least I'm not hunched over on my knees doin it!!

Yes! It's the only piece of baby furniture we purchased that we actually use. We got one with drawers and stuff, so it's great storage as well.

That is a great idea! If only space was not an issue

I have got a few on my watch list on eBay now. There weren't any in my area with drawers but if I can get a standard one for a good price then I won't mind.

I definitely wouldn't bother. We used it with DD1 but probably only twice with DD2. It has spent most of it's time sitting in the garage. I found I just ended up changing DD2 wherever, floor, bed, etc. Didn't find it hard at all, and DD1 was only 2 so I was mostly watching her at the same time so changed DD2 while I was doing stuff with her, or she wanted to 'help' so it was easier on the floor.

hey love we were in the same situation. The one we had for the twins broke and I didnt want to spend $$$ for something that we wouldnt get use of of. The answer was for DH to knock something up himself. He made a cabinet to fit exactly the space we had. He put a shelf in the middle and I bought a change mat from Kmart and it worked a treat. The cabinet stored everything needed for changes in baskets in it, and down the bottom I had storage as well for things i needed. We put a decorative piece of wood on one side that acted like a rail, which we took off when we had finished using it for bums
When I finished with it, it was used for toy storage in his room!!!
By no means is DH handy, but it was literally 2 sides, a top and a middle- took him only a couple of hours and he bought the wood pre-cut!!
We have now finished with it even for his toys and it is now going to be passed onto my sister for the same purpose
It was a grouse cabinet and I can take photos of it for you if you want!!!
It was cheap to make, fitted to spot exactly and muli-purposed, and better still- it was made with love from daddy!!!!
a one stop table was definately better for me !

Gee, I've had 4 kids and never had one. Just did it on the floor so that way they could have nappy free time and I could change them safely without ever having to worry about them falling off.
