We got one of the travel systems where the capsule sits on the pram seat. our capsule is rated to 12kg, it is the Safe and Sound unity capsule (rebranded to Fisher Price) and we got the 3 wheeler pram that goes with it. There is an umbrella stroller option too. I am still trying to talk DH into the umbrella stroller part. The capsule is usally $299 and the 3 wheel pram is also usually $299, but we went on a day that Target had 20% off storewide, and the 2 cost us $480.88 including the layby fee. We already had a bassinet and I wanted a capsule with the higher weight rating.
Capsules do get heavy so if you are thinking of getting a capsule I would recommend getting a travel system one, otherwise it will just stay in the car all the time and you would be better off with a convertible car seat
We have a travel system and its been the best money we have spent. We have a Quinny Buzz, the Dreami bassinet, and a Maxi Cosi cabrio capsule we ordered in from Europe (no AU rear facing seat will fit in our Mini Cooper so we had to get one in). Its great, the capsule is rated to 13kg and Oliver still fits into it comfortably now. Its easy to take out of the car and pop on the pram frame for quicker trips or if he is asleep. Its actually been much more useful than the bassinet attachment as he outgrew that at 11 weeks. I love that we can load Oliver in the capsule in the house, then carry it to the car and pop it in - its especially good when its raining and was great through winter (we don't have a garage). Its a little awkward to carry for long distances but its doable for short ones.
I've found Oliver is never in the car seat more than the 2 hour limit anyway - when he was small he needed to be fed frequently, or his nappy change, or just needed a cuddle; and now he needs frequent breaks or he gets cranky and bored. Even on a long car trip you would have to stop for feeds and nappy changes and breaks.
ETA: I also have a Hugabub sling which I keep in the pram basket, but I have a pinched sciatic nerve as a result of my pregnancy which causes me a lot of pain, and full time long term baby wearing isn't an option. I did use the HAB often but for short periods, usually when Oliver was unsettled, but if he was happy or asleep he rode in the pram

FYI, just bought the Strider Deluxe travel system on saturday (in kingfisher)...we got it from BabyTime (in werribee but I think there is a geelong store too), and it was only $869 I think..so got the bassinet for free! woohoo! cant wait to pick it up
MrsC. How exciting!!! have you been practising with it???? I want to get mine NOW. but we are moving in a few weeks so i am putting off all the shopping til we are in our new place... but boy oh boy is my shopping radar going beserk!
