I only used fitted sheets and had about 5 for DD. I bought a couple of cute sets (one from Target, the other Big W) and then bought just fitted sheets in plain white from Target. I always got them cheap at the baby sales. I got a hand-me-down set too.

My only issue is I have a Boori cot and the normal cot sheets are quite small and tight on my cot mattress so I wish I'd spent more on the sheets designed to fit Boori cots.

Target do single sheets as well I think, but you got me thinking last night and I checked out ebay - have you tried there? There's heaps of cheesy patterns but lots of plains as well.

Sometimes you can get some good quality sheets for coins at Op shops too.

Hey Teirae.. Go through some boxes from me- I am pretty sure I put a few cot sets in there... some white ones and maybe a blue one??? And some bassinette ones that should fit your cradle. I have some pink ones here but DD takes one to DC and DS takes a yellow one too, but I am pretty sure I gave you some, if I havent already- then they are here somewhere waiting to give to you And some blankets and stuff too

And for a spewie baby- I always used the flat sheet doubled over and tucked under where bubs head went, and if he spewed I only had to change that, not the whole bed

Ohh, also I am doing a toy cull soon.. let me know if you want any of the big things that make noise and I will keep them for you If not I will get rid of them

Thanks Starbright... I can't remember seeing sheets, but has been a while since i went through the boxes.

and yea toys will be good, as that is the one thing we have none of atm! poor little thing will be playing with loo rolls at this rate =P (i know it is still way early though)

I ended up getting some cheap single bed sheets (cheaper than cot sheets.. *shakes head*).

so i guess onto my next thing to obsess over =P

for spewing, get some cloth nappies (just terry flats) and pop one under their head. We always had one under DS until he hit about 1yo, and he really, really rarely spews through it.

and don't stress about toys - DS spends as much time playing with empty tubs as he does expensive toys given by friends

Flat nappies are awesome - I put one under DD's head when I'm feeding her so milk doesn't go everywhere.

I recently went to spotlight and got 2to3metres of 4 different coloured material, cost me $50 and ive so far out of that ive made a quilt, 3 sheets, a toy, a pennant banner and i still have enough to make either a couple of change table covers or a large summer sheet. I think the cost of sheet sets is ridiculous.

Really agree with the flat nappies under the head. I got some soft flannelette ones and they were brilliant. Used them for spew rags as well. I used the flat sheets to wrap up m girls when they grew out of the muslin wraps I had but the weather was still to warm for blankets.
