We bought the SNS Unity capsule... and i've got a new model Subaru Forester (which has heaps of extra room in the back - BUT I didn't yet have the Forester at the time of purchase)... but i've just had the capsule delivered and I don't THINK it fits...
I definitely can't put the capsule right behind the front passenger seat, as the seat HAS to move forward (which we're trying to avoid - tall DH). If I put it in the middle, I think it just touches the two front seats on the either side. I'm assuming that's wrong? I seem to remember hearing that if it's right behind a seat it shouldn't touch the seat in front of it, so am assuming that goes for wherever I put it? Also, the "footprint" of the base seems longer than the back-seat base - is that a problem too?
Soooo might be time for a trip back to the shop. Is the "normal" SNS capsule any smaller, or will I just have to go the Compaq? I had quite liked the idea of getting a capsule if possible...
Looking forward to your lovely wise words of wisdom! TIA!
I don't think it matters if the base is longer thetn he seat but I am prety sure you should be able to put 2 fingers down between the back of the seat & the seat in front. I think its ok if it touched just as long as it not wedged in there KWIM?
You could take it to one of those fitting stations where they fit it properly for you.
They would be able to tell you for sure whether it's fitting correctly and where it should go.
From what I remember the capsule or seat shouldn't touch the front seats at all, not sure about the base length.
We are about to buy a new Forrester so I am interested to see what happens with it.
We haven't decided on car seats yet.
Thanks ladies - and ll80, you'll LOVE the Forester - the extra space is just fab. My DH is a total convert (and it was purchased as my car, not his!!!).
I have a sneaking suspicion that it really doesn't fit and we're gonna be doing swappsies. I have a friend who has an Outback & bought the Meridien, but she's saying she really wished she'd got a capsule.... hmm.
Other option is that we just put the front seat forward, if I really want to keep my capsule . I would have thought the Unity capsule was smaller than the standard one.
in the instructions it says that it can just touch it as long as it does not alter the angle of it. i have one and it is behind the driver seat in a magna and for dh to drive it just touches seat but when i am driving there is no problem.
