i used a hammock for my first bub, it was around 17 years ago, not sure if they make them the same now, they were very new on the market then, and he passed away from sids when he was in it.....not sure if it had anything to do with the hammock, but he had rolled onto his stomach.
thought i would add...we were also told back then to sleep babies on the side not on there backs.
