Ok, so once again I'm clueless as I don't remember the slings being around last time I was having a baby
Help me with the sling I want - you guys are the gurus
Basically I want something that will last as bub grows, that both DH & I can wear & something that I can breastfeed in comfortably.
My SIL had a babasling she used for both of her girls & swore by it, but I remember they weren't in it for very long past the newborn stage? I may be wrong but I don't remember her using it with either of them past the 2-3 months.
I also want something I can wear for a while without my back being in too much pain - something I can wear if I go grocery shopping etc.
I trust you ladies more than the sales ladies in the shops so thanks in advance
I can't comment on the HAB, but I do have a Close Carrier.
It's supposed to last until about 11kgs (I think - not sure where I've put the booklet with the info),
adjustable,
very easy to get on (DH can use it easily too but chooses not to we picked a colour that we both would wear but he doesn't wear it)
no trying to tie it as it has the slip ring (I can't think of the exact words that describe the rings) type fastening.
You can wear it to BF (my DS didn't like it so didn't succeed with that option).
Bubs can eventually go facing out - DS just starting this - as well as facing in.
I love the fact that the straps go over both shoulders and I've only had trouble with sore shoulders when I've got trouble with my feet - after standing for ages - not very often.
Bub's arms are able to be tucked in or let out - so strap doesn't go over their shoulders - as bubs gets older (about 4mths I think) and demands to move around to look at everything.
When taking DS out in the car I just wear the CC sling in the car as it's really easy to get him into the sling when getting him out the car.
but it doesn't let you put bubs on your back according to the booklet or on your hips
I have a close carrier to use for this baby but haven't used it as yet.
I have a babasling which I couldn't use after about 3 or 4 months as it hurt my neck.
I have an ergo and I love it BUT found it hard with a newborn as infant insert never seemed to look comfortable for baby without a lot of fiddling and couldn't seem to get baby in it alone at that stage. Once DS could sit up I loved it but he wasnt a huge fan for long periods. On the back is great I cant even feel him (apart from hair pulling and yelling in ear)
If I manage to make it on the 15th, I will bring DS2 in the close carrier and you can see it in action... I love the close, and am finding it easy and comfortable...
I wasn't interested in getting a HAB, just because of too many things I had read on here about people hating it because it was hard to put on, took too much time, dragged on the ground cos of all the fabric etc...
So I got a close carrier, and DD2 loves it, falls asleep within about 2 minutes of putting it on.
I also have a bubba moe, but if you have a bub with reflux, they won't like it, cos they don't usually like lying down. Close carrier is good cos they are upright, so are awesome for bubbas with reflux. (not saying that your bub will have reflux, but you gotta be prepared for everything right?)
I also have an ergo, which I love for both DD1 AND DS - they both go in it from time to time.
I have just purchased another sling (cos I'm going to sell the bubba moe) and that will take the place of the close carrier when DD2 gets too big for it. I couldn't carry DD1 comfortably in the close when she was 10kg - so I don't know about the 11kg weight limit, cos we never tried it past 10, she just sat too far down no matter how tight I made the straps.
Exactly all the info I wanted to hear from everyone!
I'm so excited about being able to breastfeed in it as well (providing bub likes it of course ) - just have to pick a colour now & buy it off someone lovely from BB
