I saw a pram...

Hi there! as some of you know, I'm TCCing number two (DD just turned one) and I'm thinking about sibling prams ... I saw what looked like the perfect pram at a fair on the weekend but I didn't catch the brand before it disappeared into the crowds. The wheel configuration and handle looked a bit like a bugaboo or maybe a Joolz... It looked light, the newborn was on the top in a car capsule, facing mama, and the older baby was under and in the front (i.e. not side by side and not slid underneath like in the luggage tray either). Any ideas what it might have been?

Sounds a bit like the Baby Jogger City Select. I have it and used that configuration a lot when DD2 was in the capsule. The iCandy prams are like that too but more compact than the Select, not as much leg room if I recall correctly from my research.

hmm i *think* the new icandy can only have bubs in double mode down the bottom.

the new Stokke double has a newborn up top though...

Yes I've had my eye on that- the Crusi? It looks pretty much perfect. I'll have a job convincing DH to invest in it though.

as a bugaboo owner i reckon that any pram of that quality (and i include Stokke...they are gorgeous and *almost* had me changing brand sides lol) is worth the investment. Stokke have such amazing attention to detail in the quality of make and comfort. but yeah at $1699 in single mode it is up there...

As a Stokke owner, I can attest to what Cassius said about quality. We have the Xplory and it's fantastic. So worth the money, especially if you're like us and don't have a car, because the pram becomes your child's only mode of transport. Bugaboo are great too. I'm not sure if the crusi is available in Aus yet though?

minimee are already taking orders at the very least....and you will want to order it in. i have had to wait 7 weeks for the donkey almost 12 months after it was first released! and you would have to think about what accessories in advance too...(so far have had to wait 2 weeks for a sunshade!). it is insane. but i guess retailers are just trying to not have excess stock and in bugaboos case they dont let OS stores sell to OZ customers...which totally sucks.

Could I get the stokke OS?

Our current pram for DD is a mountain buggy swift which we bought because someone recommended it and i was too confused by the choices to look elsewhere. it has been great- it's not pretty but it's sleek and skinny which I love as I walk everywhere and live in the inner city so it's easy to manoeuvre in cafes, shop doorways etc as well as the huge park near our home. we could sell it when the time comes but I don't think our baby capsule is compatible with the icandy or stokke - it's a unity safe n sound so if I wanted to do the car/pram/home transfer again I'd have to buy a new capsule ... Anyway I'm still in the TCC phase so I'm getting ahead of myself!

We have the mountain buggy duet. It's a side by side, but narrower than a Strider. It is capsule compatible, but we have enormous babies and don't drive much, so we never bothered.

Yes you can get stokke's overseas or even from eBay for significantly cheaper. We bought the Xplory in a boutique and as such pains $1600 for it in 2011, I've seen them online now for as low as $1200, definitely worth shopping around. Not sure what the Crusi is though although I'd say the price would be comparable.

Another inline pram I like the look of is the Phil & Teds Promenade. We're considering selling our stokke and getting this, but I'm still not sure.

as an ex-P&T owner...once you've gone bug (or stokke

) you just can never go back lol. i found them kinda gross to push and not as awesome overall. but had a Dash...not the new promenade (which does look nicer than their other models!)

Obviously haven't had the new double, but I'll add my two cents worth that if you can go the extra $$ go the Stokke. I have one for Miss A and it is sooooooooooooo good. Having had doubles with DDs 1 and 2, I can say categorically that if you are going to be looking at long term use of a pram for two, it is well and truly worth paying to get the best you can afford

Love love love my Bugaboo Donkey! I have at least one person stop me every day to admire it hahaha. Considering how big it looks, it can spin on a 5 cent piece!!!

even in double mode it fits through standard doorways

i live inner melb and havent had an issue yet! it is the same width in double mode as a strider for example..or like a millimeter wider. seriously the same!
