We were advised by our physio and our paediatrician not to use one for our DD as puts to much pressure on babies hips (among other issues). Because my DD had mild hip dysplasia I did not want to take the risk!
Ditto. It's a no from me. Nor will I use Exersaucers or crotch-dangling carriers, or baby walkers (can't believe that those things still exist) I used all three as a baby and I have terrible hip and lower back issues. None of this showed up until I was well into my twenties, but I absolutely believe it contributed.

Mine have all been in a jumperoo but not a JJ. IMO the jumperoo is better - has its own stand and things too look at and play with so jumping isn't all they can do. The Jumperoo seems to have less jump in it than the JJ, so they can't get as high so less impact. My kids have never really jumped in it at all actually, then just stand and slowly rotate to play with all they toys. I have put mine in it from about 10 weeks old with a pillow under their feet so they weren't on tip toes (they were all weight bearing and could hold themselves up well by then).

An exersaucer is another option if you want him upright but not jumping.
