My dd has developed a fairly noticeable flat head and im currently turning her head onto the other side and supporting it with one of DH's explorer socks, but she still manages to push it out of the way and turn back onto the flat side.
So anyway I was doing a bit of googling to find something a bit better and came across the Babymoov Lovenest head support which has been designed to help with this issue. Has anyone used one of these before, or had some success?
We bought one for our Monster because he also favoured one side of his head and it was also starting to get flat. I think that they are a really good idea if you do not have a wriggly bub. Our Monster would shift his head off the pillow in no time at all. I would then wake to find his head wedged against it (on the flat side of his head as well). Once his head was wedged then he couldn't even move it himself because the pillow was in the way, thereby encouraging him to continue sleeping on the flat side! I imagine it would be good if you could keep and eye on your bub during their day time sleeps and keep popping their heads back on it should they wriggle off? We used it for 2 weeks in all and, in retrospect, it was a waste of money.
In my opinion, you would do far better to address it from a physiological perspective. The reason they are favouring one side is that their neck muscles on that side are probably stiff or just weak. Getting the neck pain / stiffness resolved will, in turn, resolve the flat head. We have been seeing a paediatric chiropractor and physio and have noticed a marked improvement.
I know how stressful it is, but it is easily resolved with appropriate treatment early on.
