Medela Mini Electric pump - any thoughts?

I've just had our second baby and my gorgeous parents bought me the Medela Mini Electric Starter Kit as a gift. I hired a Symphony and borrowed a Swing when I had DD1 so I'm a fan of Medela products but don't know anything about the Mini Electric. Has anyone used it?

I can swap it for the Swing if I want to but if it's a good pump then I'm happy to keep it. I only plan on expressing for random bottles here and there, to relieve engorgement or to 'pump and dump'.

Any info and thoughts would be appreciated!

If its only for occasional use it will be fine. I have both mini electric (me) and swing. I started with a second hand me and I was pumping regularly. I decided to upgrade to the swing because I needed something a little more discrete for pumping at work and quieter . I continued to keep and use the me as a back up when I overflowed the swing vacuum pipes with milk. (still took both to work when i was having the overflow issue but only got the me out when necessary.)

If you have good supply, not a problem (a friend of mine used it sparingly and handed it on to me). I had supply issues and it just didn't cut it. I'll hire hospital grade double pump next time.

I used one and it was fine for my needs. It's not suitable for full time expressing but should meet your needs. It's faster when plugged in than when running on batteries though it still won't be the same as a swing or symphony.

When do you need to pump and dump?

Thanks girls. Hmmm, sounds like it will do the job but I do like the Swing so maybe I should swap it. Will do a bit more investigation

MR - I'd pump and dump for social events such as weddings, etc as I enjoy a wine or two. We've already got a few things on the calendar.
