mid November baby - will I need outfits with long sleeves/arms
31deg here in Adelaide, and I was hot last night and it got me thinking - will bubs, who is due in 4 weeks, need outfits with long sleeves and legs (and feet)?
I've got a few of these outfits with the feet and yesterday I bought a couple more without the feet, in case he's long, but then after being hot last night and the heat today I'm wondering whether I'll need them. Maybe for night, if the nights are cooler?
One thing I'm worried about is overheating the baby and risk of SIDS, and I have no idea how to dress a baby appropriately.
Temperatures can fluctuate and it can get cool especially in air-conditioned environments and at night. Both of my kids were born in summer and I found the best thing to do was to layer so that I could adjust their clothes to suit the temp eg, a short sleeved onesie with a jacket and leggings over it etc.
I would say yes. I'm about to have my 2nd November baby, and I found the long sleeve without feet, and also the long sleeve that just button up underneath. Found these were quite handy especially for sleeping at night where it can get a bit cooler.
Hi
I'm having an end of oct/early nov baby too. The other thread was started by me. I've bought both long and short sleeve. A few cardigans as well. The point about air conditioning is a good one as if it gets too hot it will be cool in the house and then bubs will definitely need long sleeves to avoid a chill.
I remember worrying about it with DS then it became routine once he was here. All the best for you and your bubs
Yep, Ive had two December babies and was surprised at just how much I used the long sleeve stuff. The temperature can still dip in summer and its best to have a few things, but no need to go overboard because most of the time he'll be in short sleeves.
I had a late November baby in Brisbane and I definitely used the long sleeved stuff - mostly in the early morning when the temperature can still be quite cool for a baby.
Us adults who sleep right through the night tend to forget that newborns wake for feeds etc in those early morning hours when it is still quite cool. Don't get tons of stuff, but definitely get 3-4 suits with sleeves and feet (newborns puke alot, these might last you two days lol), and also one or two bunny rugs because you'll use those in the early morning as well.

my two are VERY different, DD1 couldnt stand being too dressed, in summer (when she was only a few months old, and now that she is 3) she would rather sleep in undies (or nappy when she was little) and a vest most nights, and still kicks toe covers off because she is hot!
DD2 is much colder, even on the hottest night we had the other day, she was in long sleves and legs.
Ive always had both mine in bed with me though, so its easier to gauge the temp and warmer so they require less.
like a PP said, you just know. i read that they require about one extra layer of clothes than your a re wearing.
