movement monitors - how long do you use them for?

    Hi,

I was just wondering how long people use movement monitors for?

I did do a bit of a search but mostly refers to sound monitors. the layout of our place (open plan) means I don't need a sound monitor as I can hear every noise from every where, but just wondering how long to use a movement monitor for?

We just stopped using ours. Dd is 18 months and we have turned her cot into a toddler bed.

I plan to use mine until I move DD into a toddler bed when she hits 2. It's already setup and doesn't hurt anyone by leaving it until then.

Didn't bother with one at all for either baby.

i used mine til my kids could sit up. i found by then they were so mobile in their cot that the alarm would continually sound as I wouldn't pick up their breathing as they'd be up the opposite end! So probably about 7 or 8 months. I still use the sound part of the monitor tho and I'm a infamous sleeping baby stalker! lol hth

We still use one in the cot with DS mainly cos i haven't gotten around to turning it to sound only. When this bub arrives we will move it to the bassinet and get a cheapo sound only one for DS.

sent from my watzamajig so may not make sense....

We used one for only a month or so with DD1 - kept having false alarms that scared the cr*p out of me to start, and then I got complacent so figured it was a waste. Didn't use it at all for DD2 and won't for this bub either.

I stopped at about 4 months once bubs starting moving around the cot. Haven't set it up for this bubs yet, you have just reminded me but I didn't get as worried with #2 so doubt I will ever put it up as in the middle of the night when you forget to turn it off when you feed bubs, it wakes EVERYONE up.

I have never used one for any of my 3 bubs..just a sound monitor but have to turn it off at night as all the grunting and movements keep me awake!!

We stopped using ours when DD went into her big bed (a king single) at 26 months. She was in a toddler bed from around 20 months but as she was (and still is) quite the terror and VERY adventurous (I found her in her GroBag on top of the change table one afternoon ), we used the movement monitor to know when she'd gotten out of bed. I would hear just the first warning beep and wake to turn it off - and then hunt down DD!

    thanks ladies,

I didn't want to have to get a second one, and was thinking of taking it off DD1 for No2, but DH is a bit scared too, having said that, it is me who gets up when she has rolled off the mat and the alarm sounds!

Taurean - that would have been quite a sight!

It was! Scared the hell out of me! I have a couple of pics of her scaling her bedroom furniture including her bookshelf which DH had attached to the wall, thankfully!

We'll be using ours until our next bub arrives so DD will be 13.5 months old
