Nappy bag ideas for MCN wearing toddler and newborn?

    Hi,

I need some suggestions for a new nappy bag. I will be using MCN's (Baby BeeHinds Bamboo Fitted if that helps) on both my now 18 month old and newborn who is due in February. So I need a bag that will suit having 2 cloth bottomed boys!

I don't want it to be to handbag'ish or 'girly'- as DH will need to use it too.

We've got a Phil and Ted's Inline pram too, so it will need to fit nicely over that if possible.

    Any suggestions???

    Thanks in advance.

oh i swear i read another thread JUST like this one, in last two days, my memory is like a sieve, wish i could remember WHERE i saw it, so i could put down all the great suggestions. MIMCO and Isoki are the only ones i remember.

i would suggest too, when you go out in the car, pack a 2nd nappy bag (even if the contents are only in a shopping bag). so say you use the contents of the nappy bag (the one you keep in the pram) in the morning, you have the option to go out to the car, and swap over the used contents of the morning, for the clean contents of the car nappy bag.
Plonk the wetbag full of used mcn in teh shopping bag.
Plonk the clean nappies and an empty wetbag in your proper nappy bag.
    all ready to start again.
    So you can keep going.
(that's a good thing to do, for a long outing, all day outing).

having a spare nappy bag that is ALWAYS in the car is a good thing too.
there will always be SOME ocassion when you are caught short (child is sick and goes thru more than usual, car breaks down and you are out longer than expected etc).
i had a $1 opshop nappy bag as my car nappy bag. Saved my bacon on a few ocassions. Better than having to go buy a pack of sposies "because i didn't have any clean nappies with me".

for hand sanitisers in your nappy bag, the only alcohol free one i can find, is HANDS FIRST (google their site to find a stockist). all the other hand sanitisers seem to be 66% alcohol (!!!) HIGHLY FLAMMABLE, very dangerous to have around kids. If they lick your hand, after you've used that stuff, they can get alcohol poisoning. (i put this here, cos many people put hand sanitiser in the nappy bag).

Thanks Gigi...I ended up finding the thread- just had to type in the right words to search for it I guess (cause I did a quick look before posting thread). I'll google those brands you've mentioned and see if there is any stockists nearby to look at them.

And thanks for the tips on the extra bag. I kinda already do this, that I have an extra couple of disposables and change of clothes in the car (just in one of the pockets in the car really)- just in case...but will have to change things around now that I'm going into full time using of MCN's...so a 2nd bag would be a better idea - plus it can be the bag DH takes if he needs to take 1 of the boys out for a little while.

If there are any other suggestions out there for nappy bags...please share.

    Thanks again,

I have an OiOi bag (the Hobo style), and while I absolutely love it, I probably wouldn't recommend it for someone with one bub in cloth nappies, let alone someone with 2 in cloth nappies. I purposely got this one because I didn't think I would need something too big because my DS is a 'sposie wearing bub, but I still find that the bag is totally stuffed once I finish filling it with nappies, toys, a snack, spew-rug etc etc. Luckily DS is still breastfed so I don't have to save room for bottles and formula!

Good luck finding the perfect bag!

we use bbh's too we have a 16 month old and a baby on the way who will be in them too. we just have a large target brand bag we use it for daycare too. It fits over nay single pram and nay double pram as we have both, i cant see why it wont work when bub is here for us as for daycare we put 5 magicals in it large and about 10 wipes and 2 out fits so for shopping trip i would take 2 magicals in each size newborn and large and 4 out fits 3 for bub and 1 for toddler and about 10 cloth wipes and the bag to put wet nappies in that would all fit well and a small bottle bag.
