    Nappy Bags...

So I am having a lot of trouble selecting a Nappy Bag...I know it seems silly but I'm finding it really hard to decide on one!

    Do you...

    A) Get something ultra modern and stylish, hoping to hell that it doesn't get poo and vommit all over it and use it as a Handbag / Nappy Bag?

    OR

    B) Get something with a baby theme like ducks, trucks butterflies etc and then carry along a peronal hand bag for all your stuff? So keep Bub and Mum stuff separate?

    OR

    C) Get something you like the look of (not taking into consideration the Sex of the Baby) and use it as a Handbag / Nappy Bag.

I'm just thinking, is it too hard to try and remember Baby, Pram, Nappy Bag and Handbag....would it be more sensible to combine Nappy Bag and Handbag?

    What did you purchase....?

    Any thoughts?

We have a regular backpack with pockets/compartments. Works great and keeps both hands free.

I've always used my nappy bag as my handbag as well. most of them come with separate 'parents pockets' that are tricky for little hands to open and that have a spot for your purse, mobile phone, keys and anything else you might want to throw in that you don't want your curious toddler getting access to. once my kids have gotten a bit older, I have started using my old hangbags again and I keep the nappy bag stocked with nappies etc in the car. but if we're going to be out of the car for more than an hour, I usually still bring the nappy bag (with my bits and pieces in it) because my kids will usually want a snack or something in that time.

I just figure 1 bag plus baby is enough to juggle. It's easier for me to just have my nappy bag hanging on the pram and I know everything is in there. I would steer away from the baby gender specific nappy bags because a nappy bag is one thing you'll probably get use out of for a second baby...

I've always had the practical, non stylish Kappoochi mini backpack but if I were buying a new one now, I would definitely splurge on something a bit 'nicer' since you take it with you everywhere for the first 6 months, it's nice to have something you like! having said that, a backpack is handy from time to time so I don't know...

I always had one large bad that doubled as a handbag. I didn't like conventional nappy bags as I found a lot of them bulky or not very stylish, so I went between a large compartmented handbag, and a regular backpack. Something I could wear on my back or across my body was important so I could push a pram or hold a child at the same time.

I have both a diaper bag thats neutral looking (no ducks etc, but not stylish) and an over the shoulder purse/bag thats big enough to fit a few diapers, wipes and snacks. I use the diaper bag for longer outings and toss my things in the side pockets, and I use the purse for quicker trips. I never carry two bags. Often I leave the diaper bag in the car when I carry the purse since it always contains extra clothes. My MIL just got me this great hobo bag that I'm going to start using to replace both. It is both stylish and functional.

I have a nappy bag that i can also use as an over sided handbag and still looks super stylish. Its a Vanchi. Love it. Big enough to hold heaps but not too big to get in the way. As ds has gotten older i find myself just shoving a nappy and some wipes in my regular handbag jic of an emergency for short trips to the shops or visiting.

    Excellent! Thanks Ladies.

Being a first time mummy I really have no idea what I'm going to need at what stages so will most likely pack a little of everything! hehe

I think I might try for a Larger Bag with an across the body strap (that can be draped across the pram handle) that has compartments on the inside so that sticky fingers can't get hold of my purse and phone and perhaps just a simple plain design on the front....that way I am not likely to get sick of it!

I think a back pack would be a great idea for outdoorsey types of things. Where you may have to carry a child at some point.

    Thanks heaps everyone!

I ended up ditching my nappy bag altogether - and then put all my nappy changing items in a zippered toiletries bag, then popped that in a re-usable shopping bag from cotton on! Then just carried my handbag too. I found that the easiest!

I've had two proper nappy bags, but I'm one who doesn't carry a handbag anyway so I wish I had never bothered. My Oioi hobo bag doesn't look too dissimilar to a big handbag, but I could have saved a motza by buying something else. I'm not into that whole cutesy baby thing so it wouldn't really have mattered whether it was a true nappy bag or not for me.
Like SS I just have the basics in a small bag in the back of the car. If we go somewhere longer obviously I take more, but you learn pretty quickly what's manageable for you.
