    Nursery mural painting

    Hello Everyone,
I am only newly pregnant, and already thinking about what i want to do with nursery.
I have seen on the internet, beautifully painted murals and am wondering if anyone who lives in melbourne, victoria, knows of people who come out and paint murals in rooms.
I would love kinda like a sky theme with bears in hotair balloons, but i do like the big tree and bees, lady bugs, birds etc... Lots to think about. Has anyone got any links or know of people who have done this?
Would love to hear from you!

You can probably do this for a tiny fraction of the cost by buying a roll of a border or kiddy wallpaper, cutting out the characters and then sticking them onto a plain blue wall.

Worth a thought, you've a few months to get it done in!

Thank you for your ideas, i have thought of that, but i do really like the painted on effect. But if i cant find anyone to do it, i might look into it.
    Thanks!

I had a friend who painted an "under the sea" theme for her DD's nursery. She put pictures of sea creatures into an overhead projector and painted them onto the wall, then painted the water around it. Looks great.

Congratulations on your pregnancy Deetor! What exciting times ahead. I would like to paint a mural on the nursery wall for my baby one day too. I don't have any suggestions but I hope you will find someone soon. Maybe check at TAFE? Some of the students may be able to do the job (plus it may be cheaper?). Just a thought. Art students are usually quite creative and happy to take on jobs to show their creativity You could put an ad or their message board.

That's a fantastic idea buzzawuzza! Thanks for sharing that. I have been wondering what the best way to do it would be. Have chosen a theme but my freehand drwing is not that great

    Hi deetor,
Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to BB

I came across a lady on ebay and the wahmnaps website that makes the name signs for your doors (you know the one where they childs name is made out of wood and painted, etc?) Anyway I found a link on one of her ebay auctions I think, to her website, and she has photo's on there of her wall murals....absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure where she is located though sorry.
I think her seller name on ebay is fantasy creations? Her website is something different i think? I have been checking her out, as I was thinking of getting one of the door signs for DS.

On the other hand, you could print out some pics, and make them into a stencil, and draw them on the wall.
we painted 2 of the walls in DS's room blue, then did some clouds and got some stickers from walls of the wild in the U.S.A, (when the exchange rate was good lol) one is a monkey hanging from a branch and the other is a bird.

there is a thread on here somewhere about decorting nurseries, which I think may have some sites mentioned regarding stickers.

eta: My munchkin home, has some nice BIG stickers too

Deetor - I'm absolutely positive there are people that do just what you want. I totally agree with you on the effect, it is really second to none.

When I was little I had a friend who lived in this big old house in Ivanhoe. She had the most beautiful scenes painted on her walls, very magical and ethereal. I could have stared at them for hours.
My sister has this funny little bathroom with the biggest, oldest bath you have ever seen. She got a professional is to simply paint clouds on a sky blue wall - I remember thinking "gawd I coulda done that", until I saw it for myself. Just awesome.

I can't ask her who did it if you want, are you in Melbourne?

Yes im in Melbourne, and it would be great to find out who did the paintings.
If possible even better if they have a website to look at.
    Thanks

I don't know if I am allowed to post the website... Any mods around that could let me know?
