Our nursery which was set up in our old house was a Noahs ark theme, it all stemmed from a beautiful noahs ark cot panel in Spotlight plus I liked that it was gender neutral, I bought some of the co-ordinating fabric to decorate cushions, lamp etc. I found ebay really helpful too buying book ends and mobile and friends bought a gorgeous print.
At the moment we are renting while we build so our daughter has a fairly neautral room but I will decorate her a real little girls room in lilac and will re-use all our noahs ark stuff for our little bubba
We didn't know the gender of our baby so decided on doing a brighter green colour and stars with white furniture, It all looked really nice with softer stuffed teddies etc of different colours.. If you have a look at walkk stickers etc as a few above have mentioned- you can find SO many different ones on Ebay aswell, really nice polka dots and cars and farm animals etc..
we didn't find out the sex of bub either and decided on a jungle theme. fortunately we own our house so i painted a massive baby jungle animals mural (in soft pastel colours) on half of a wall in the nursery. i drew it from a pic, but you could easily trace a pic. it cost me bout $60 in paint to do this but worth every cent and it turned out fantastic. i put a plain blue border up, and then just decorated it with the babies furniture. the rest of the room is white and i found the mural all i needed to brighten up the room.
We knew Zander was a boy before we decorated & did a Rugrats theme. We painted the top 3/4 of the room blue (sky) and the bottom 1/4 green (grass). With Juliette we knew she was a girl & painted in Huggies newborn green (took the box to Bunnings LOL) and decorated with fairies & butterflies.

I had to have a giggle @ you taking the Huggies box into Bunnings to match the colour- For my sons room, it is now bright brgith green...and i took a box of tampons in because i wanted the green of the box for his room!!!! (was just the most perfect green for his room i felt massivly ridiculous for taking in the little box!!)
We did find out the sex but i still wanted something gender neutral as you never know what future kids are going to be, so we went for jungle animals. If DD has a youngerbrother or sister she will get a new room with more girly things.
When we were pregnant with NIki I started renovating the nursery. Because my MIL didn't want to know what we were having and that she lives behind us and comes up all the time we decided to go neutral.
I painted the ceiling and walls in full strength Fair Bianca which is sort of an ivory creamy kind of white and picked the trim out in Mill Flour which is tripple strength of the first colour.
All the linen I have so far is Ivory toned in the Sweet Dreams brand "Twin Teddies" I also found some teddy wall stickers (removable) and created a teddy boarder.
Once we have this baby then I will get some gender specific linen sets and buy some gender specific pictures to go on the walls, but I like the simplistic type look of neutral for now.
We don't know the sex of our baby either and decided not to find out so we have gone all neutral also. The walls are a cream colour and the roof is white. We too have the walnut colour Boori furniture and we just put brown curtains up to match the furniture. We have the Whinnie the Pooh theme (cot set, blanket, floor mat etc). I think this is neutral, however, once the baby is born I would like to get another set more specific to the babies gender (ie/ butterfly's - Girl or Trains / Boats - Boy).
