I am hoping some of you are gifted in the decorating sense. I am having a little girl after 4 boys so as I am sure you can imagine there has been a pink explosion in my life after so much blue (and red and trucks and diggers and trains and footballs...you get the idea )
So, I have purchased a white cot, change table, dresser and bookcase. I have a blank canvas for a room with neutral light brown carpet.
The nursery set I have is VERY pink, and white with brown teddy bears. There are green accents too. I now need to choose the wall colous. In the display the walls are all pink that I think looks too much. So what to do?
A pink feature wall only? A lighter pink/ darker pink wall. A brown feature wall like the teddy bears? Green?? A different color altogether? Or should I keep it crisp and white?
Thanks so much I am driving myself crazy.....
And this is how they do it in the display that I feel is too pink... (my furniture is very much like this)
I would be inclined to go warm neautral or puddle (dulux colors) on the walls and use pink as the accessory colors with the warm neautral you could easily get away with using a wall with pink color in it for a feature
I would suggest Dulux Sago or Ecru for the walls (beige/light brown) and then a feature wall in either pink or green.
Having a brown tone on the walls and having your ceilings and architraves (sp?) white will accentuate your white furniture.
I would suggest going down to Bunnings (or similar) and taking a sample of your pink bedding with you. Go through their colour charts and try to find a feature wall colour to match.
Yep I agree - I would keep it very neutral or if you do want a pink on the wall keep it an almost white pink. A brown suede look feature wall would look nice too, but having a neutral colour means you can accessorise to your hearts content and if you get sick of pink ( hehe) then you don't have to worry about the walls. I learnt that the hard way - Izzys room is green and I hate it now!
Dont go ALL pink - I did that in my new house, and now I dont like the all pink thing. I am getting DH to repaint and leave only one pink feauture wall, only on the wall that has a large window. My friend will be paining DD's name on it in all different colours to further break up the pink.
What a pretty nursery you're creating I think you're right that there is too much pink with the walls pink as well. I like the idea of offwhite/pale beige with crisp white on the skirts/architraves etc to pick up the furniture. A feature wall in a soft green would be nice too, it would balance out the pink so that it doesn't get tooo sweet.
Have fun, how exciting to have a pink bump after 4 boys
