Question Which One? Is there really much difference?

We have decided that we are going to get the Maxi Rider car seat for DS 1 to use and bub can use the car seat we already have.

    My question is which one?

    Maxi Rider - $349
    or
Maxi Rider AHR Convertible Booster Seat - $439

Is there a lot of difference?

    Thanks heaps

we went looking for car seats on the weekend, the lady in the shop said the booster one would do our baby from 6 months or when it comes out of capsule right up to around 7 yo.

Apparently the laws are about to change and it will be compulsory to have lil ones in a car seat until 18kg?

So confusing and hard to know what to believe, hope this helps!

Personally I would get a seat that can take babies from birth. My DD only lasted in a capsule until she was 4 months. I like the Safe and Sound brand, it comes highly recommended from the ambulance and the RACQ. I did not buy the top of the range seat, as I did not think I needed all the non-essential extras. At the same time don't go cheap because you will use the car seat all the time.

we have teh meridian convertable, from birth to 18 kgs, our DD is still in it til the next one comes in feb, then she will go into the newer maxirider til 7ish, which suits from 8kg to 26 i think?
it depends if you want to use the capsule for afew months, remember they get heavy!
i think that sales chick was pretty much saying to use the capsule then the maxirider, but kids need to be backward to 1, the capsule wont last that long

tears of joy the difference is the AHR head protection in the new one

    AHR = Active head restraint
Basically it is the same as the Maxi Rider II, but the head part moves up as the child grows. The Maxi Rider is a great seat, it is up to you whether you think the movable head part is worth it, we don't miss having one. We have just bought a 2nd one for the 2nd car.

We have the original maxirider. DD2 has now taken possession of this while DD1 has a new booster and baby will have the original reversible safe-n-sound guardian (? I think that's what its called ?) We stayed with Safe-n-sound for all seats as I felt comfortable with their reputation for safety standards.

The difference between the original maxirider and the AHR maxirider is the added head protection. If you're in a bad accident the child's head is better protected than the standard version.

My SIL/BIL and their 2 DD's were recently involved in a lucky escape car accident and have upgraded both their seats to the ones with the AHR.

My only reservations with the maxirider is the space in the car it takes up. We would have loved to have 2 of them in the car but with the baby's seat in there too it wouldn't fit. Its great if you only plan on having 2 kids. If you have a baby's galore near you, go and ask for advice from them, they're always helpful and informative. Plus, they are willing to take the seats out to the car to check if they fit, but then any good baby store should do this.

I know I've rambled... blame pregnant head. But, I hope I've given you some help?
