P&T new Sports versus secondhand e3

I've decided I definitely like the P&T... but do I go the Sport or the e3?
While i know there's "41" differences between the two models (as listed on this handy Website... but I guess I'm torn. Should I be thrifty and go for the second-hand e3... or are the differences (most of which look relatively minor, but some are definitely good, specially the safety related stuff) worth paying for a new one?

Bearing in mind that it's my first bub, so the temptation is definitely there to buy everything shiny & new. Love to hear others opinions!

    Thanks!

    Hi belfie,

I don't know if the differences are that great, but if you plan on doing a lot of walking I'd go for the new one, I'm sure you'll get the use out of it (that's how I justified my new p&t pram to myself!!). Is there a huge price difference and the e3 and the new one?

Where do you live? I know a place in Melbourne that has the new ones cheap-ish?

Belfie thanks so much for posting, Im getting one and I was wondering about the differences between the 2!
Just letting you know that in May when the new Vibe comes out the price of the sport at Baby Bunting is currently $549 and will be going up to $599 and the new E3 will come in at the current sport price! Hope that makes sense!

Kristen27 - Im in Melbourne and I'm pretty sure Belfie is too? could you pm me the name or post on here please!

    Hi there

I have a 2006 version of the e3. If I had to choose between the sports and e3, I would definately buy the sports.

    Why:
its more compact (little smaller) than the e3 in length
the padding in the main seat (newborn) is better, I found the padding not good for newborn with the e3 at all.
they fixed the straps to be better, also the mud guards are there
thebasket is easier to get to in newborn position with the sports
The sports hood you can also see the bubs through where you cant on the e3.

Thats all I know.. I haven't compared them on the website but one of my friends has the sports. So there maybe other differences.

ETA: honestly if you are buying a new P&T the Dash (not Vibe sorry) is the way to go, they have a special lock to hold the pram together when putting in the car, and the hood is better and there is more padding for bubs in the seat.

The Dash not Vibe sorry has already arrived in NSW. A friend of mine bought one its looks great. Didnt realise there is a new version of the e3 coming out.

Just had a look at the site and there is a new one called the Dash as well. The Vibe is retailing for around $800, and looks a bit too Strider for me ( I just sold my Strider!!!)
    Ugh the choices!!!

wow, thanks for the information. And yes, I'm in Melb (thanks Tan ) I'd love to know where has them at a good price. I've heard Baby Gallery in Clayton has good prices on them.. but i haven't rung them to see.

Re the vibe coming out - I'm totally confused. Why would the price go UP on the sports?? Doesn't the price on things usually go down when there's extra models coming?
While I've heard the vibe does have some swishy extra features, I'm not really keen to pay quite that much. Babies Galore has it listed on their site for pre-order.

Also I hadn't realised there was a new e3 coming. Is the new e3 the one they're calling the classic, or is it actually badged as an e3? I had thought the Sport was the e3 replacement.

    Cheers,
    Belfie

I think the girl we were talking to meant the Classic which is basically the E3. I wondered why it was going up too but I think because the E3/Classic is coming in, it is taking the price bracket of the sports. The girl at Baby Bunting was lovely and basically said to us if we want the Sports to get it now while its cheaper!!! Weird hey. I heard of Baby Gallery I might have to check it out!

Well that is weird, cos at Baby Bunting last week I thought the girl pointed out the classic as being in store already.. and the price of the sport was still $549. Or maybe I've just got preggie brain!

If you go to internet baby mall (babymall dot com dot au) their prices are:

    Buggie + double kit
    Classic - $588
    Sport - $698
    Dash - $858
    Vibe - $1028

You can get a whole lot more info, full price list and specs from there too. HTH.

ETA: There’s a short clip on there of how the vibe folds up. It looks pretty amazingly compact (exxy though).

OMG they sound so pricey geez.

Firstly I got myself mixed up. My friend got the Dash not the Vibe. The Dash looks like the Sports sorry.

AT the moment at Babies Galore the Dash is $749 with the double kit for free valued at $109 Totally worth it. The price for the Dash from that place online is not a great price at all compared to babies galore.

The Sport is $599 without the double kit (kit is $99.95) at Babies Galore.

Dont like the look of the Vibe - Ick. Your right looks bit like Quinny or Strider.

    Hi Belfie,

I was going to suggest Baby Gallery in Clayton, they had the best prices in Melbourne when I was shopping around.

I ended up getting my P&T sports from Country Kids in Ballarat, they had a great sale, I paid $469-ish (baby brain!) for the pram and toddler seat! Not sure if they would still do the price but it might be worth asking if you're willing to take the drive there?

    Hi,

I brought the Dash model a few weeks ago (the day it got released) from babies galore for $720.

It also came with the toddler seat free (special promo thats going on) so that was a savings of $110 and then they gave me 10% off so another savings of $80. Babies galore will always give you 10% off prams if you ask.

The sports is nice but the dash is alot nicer & I dont really like the Vibe so thats why we didnt wait.

I just tried Baby Gallery - but they won't give out prices over the phone. They did say the Sports was on special though.

Baby Time (Altona, Geelong) said they've got it at $549, but come in & negotiate if interested.

Zee - that was a good price on the Dash! I'll have to try them too!

That's so dumb that baby gallery won't give out prices over the phone - why on earth not?? So if you don't live nearby you have to drive all that way for something that might not be cheaper... Grrr.....

YAH! Well I bought the Sports for $469 (from Baby Gallery - yup, swallowed my principles). Happy with that price though, and it will make the car shopping bit easier (least that's my excuse for buying it so early ) They had the double for $539.

have to say, the girl we got service from was excellent - also spent HEAPS of time giving us nursery furniture 101... very knowledgeable (as far as we can tell!) and no pressure to buy - all understood we don't need stuff yet (except the stroller of course ).

Must go do wheelies with my stroller now!
