Unhappy Phil and teds travel cot.....reviews and thoughts pls

Am looking at buying a portacot for ds for his daysleeps when he stays at grandmas....he currently sleeps in a double bed with a bedrail but even this didnt stop him from falling off the bed today Feel so so bad for not being there to prevent it :..( needless to say mother in law will not be putting him to sleep on the bed anymore . Ive got a standard portacot but I know mil will find it really hard to put ds in it as its so low so im trying to find something thats safe for ds to sleep in but not so low that mil will strain her back!! From what ive seen the phil and teds travel cot has a side opening that you can use to put bubs in?? For those that own this type of portacot how easy is it? Im not wanting something thats too big which is another reason why this appeals...but its not cheap so wld love to hear from those that own one...or any other suggestions??

We have the P&T travel cot and love it but have never used the side opening to put DD in, we always lower her in from the top. It wouldn't be hard at all to use the side opening but you would need to get right down at ground level so not sure it would be any better than leaning into it IYKWIM.

They are quite small too which is great for traveling but if your DS is use to a double bed, he may feel a little claustrophobic.

We love our cot though and would highly recommend it, especially for those who travel a lot like we do, but I'm not sure it'll really meet your needs ITMS.

Hmmm I do understand what u mean Taurean....how old is your dd? My ds only sleeps in the double bed when he stays at mils twice a week...at home he sleeps in his cot for day naps. Do you find it eady on your back putting bubs in from the top? Is the height of the p & teds travel cot lower than the standard portacots? Ill probably head out to check them out this weekend but I did read their spacious enough to use till 4 years of age?

Our DD is 22 months and still fits in it well She's been using it since she was 7 months old and sleeps really well in it.

The cot is at ground level (the base touches the ground) so although it's probably not as deep as a standard portacot, it's closer to the ground. I don't have any issues leaning DD into it though, especially now as she generally goes down awake and we don't need to ease her in, ITMS. It's never been an issue for us though

They are compact but DD doesn't mind one bit - she's always slept well in it. The last time we used it she was 20 months. We'll be using it for a holiday again in October when she'll be 25 months. We'll use it until she's 'trusted' in a normal bed on holidays (she's already in a toddler bed at home)

I LOVE ours. I have recently started using it on a double bed for day sleeps, which makes the side zipper easy access. And now bubba loves to crawl in and got to bed. Certainly a must have baby product.!!!!

We also have the Phil & Teds Traveller and LOVE it!! Can't fault a thing about it, it's awesome! Best of all it fits in our suitcase when we go away, takes up barely any room, is super light, easy to assemble, DS sleeps so well and is comfy in it, it's also darker inside than most portacots which helps with day naps etc... A few things we love about it anyway. We just love it!
