To be honest, I think if it was just me, I'd use a baby wrap/sling/carrier before moving. I say this because for both boys I had a pram, and pretty much never used it in the first few weeks. If you hire/have a baby car capsule in the first few weeks, you can always bring that inside if bub needs a portable bed. But for walking, shopping, etc, I'd go the carrier.

Alternately, do you know anyone here who'd be in a position to lend you their pram for 6 weeks before you leave?
Sadly no. We're at a very different stage to our friends - they're all still going out partying it up and we're an 'old' married couple staying home playing mummies and daddies lol.

The renting idea is great though, thanks! Can I ask why you didn't use the pram? I'm very curious on that one. I thought it would be a 'must have', especially as we're stopping for two days in Malaysia on the way over and I thuoght it might be too hot to carry bubs everywhere.

I suggest a close carrier, carry bubs everywhere in that as it is only the first few weeks and to be hinest pram in and out car a million times is blooming annoying!!!!!!!

Close carrier will also be useful in airports and on plane.

If you really want a cheap pram check out ebay, target does have a pram on special under $200 at present.

    Good luck
