I've just realised that my stupid Subaru Imprezza hatch has the child restraint anchor points on the floor at the very back of the boot... so the straps from the car seats stretch right through the boot... leaving NO room to fit anything.. let alone a pram!! We've already got a 3.5 year old and with the new laws, his booster seat (when he gets it) will have to be attached to the anchor point aswell.. so we'll have two sets of straps taking up most of the hatch boot.
I've just called a couple of places and apparently they can't move the anchor points anywhere else, so now I have to start the crazy task of selling our old 3 wheeler pram and trying to find something that will somehow fit between the straps in the boot. I'm so annoyed and don't need this right now.
Anyone have any ideas on a small pram.. suitable for newborns.. that might have a chance at fitting??? Preferably something that won't brake the bank too... didn't expect to have to buy a new pram! Grrrrrrrrr.
Oh no Kel that sucks hun - we recently bought the Impreza as well but I got the sedan for that very reason - how dumb is that, defintiely designed by a man. Anyhoo have you thought of a stroller that lies back? If I had another one I would get the Maclaren stroller that lies all the way flat for a newborn and has a snuggle thingy when they are teeny as well. The fold up small and only weigh around 6 kgs. I only use my Maclaren now anyway in the car and the P&T is for walks around home. Iz walks everywhere anyway.
Good luck!!
I think the best thing to do would be to visit the hugest baby stuff shop in your area and explain your dilemma to them. They will usually let you put prams in your boot to check that they fit.
i have the exact same problem!! for a few months i undid one of the straps to get the pram in and out, not ideal but it worked, i then purchased maclaren vogue which fits under one strap and lays slightly over the other, goes in diagnonally
I have a maclaren and its awesome, cos its a stroller its so light and tiny - hardly takes up any space at all. And I love the fact that it does newborns up to toddlers - awesome! And bonus - its 5kg. More awesome.
Not that I used it for a newborn, and probably never will, I use a carrier, and put toddlers in strollers.
