    Red cot blanket

    Hi there

I'm thinking about keeping the nursery fairly neutral - white walls (existing!), pine cupboards (existing!) and white furniture (to come!).

I'd like to accent with red.

With that in mind I've been searching for a cotton cellular cot blanket (also known as waffle weave or hospital blankets) in a nice solid red. However all I can find online is white or pastel shades - I don't do pastel!

Has anybody come across some nice boldly coloured blankets that would fit the bill?

    Thanks in anticipation

A pure cotton cellular blanket would be really easy to dye red - just get a white (or unbleached one) and then you can do any colour you want.

I have a solid red one (as well as matching sheet set) and it's made by Duck Home. I have no idea if you can still buy them though. I think David Jones sell Duck Home.

    Good luck!

I have a "Pink Hut" Red with White stars blanket, it is 100% cotton and I LOVE it But it isn't the waffle weave youa re looking for, but it is a gorgeous blanket. We also have a Little House Blanket "Millie", is is light, 100% wool and devine (that one was a gift from a group of friends, we were sooo lucky to get one ), they do now offer a 100% cotton version as well.

Not sure if any of that was any help

    Thanks!

Thank you ladies for your excellent tips of brands to search for and stores to visit. I'm sure I'll find something lovely now.

Muppity that's a great idea - you can tell I'm not very handy as the idea of dying a white blanket never occurred to me! But hey now I'm soon to become a mum, I better get a bit more handy/creative....!

I got given a red blanket from Ikea, it's solid bright red with an embroidered white love heart type thing (though not very big) it's called a "FABLER HJÄRTA" if you look at the website.

Hi ladies, thanks so much again for your tips. Just to update...

The award goes to ... Beema! I have requested one of the gorgeous Little House striped blankets 'Jack' as my going away gift from work!! I am stoked! And I also LOVE the Pink Hut star blankets, I was going to get one of those too! But they seem to have gone out of business (prior stockists no longer have them available; got a bounceback to their email) so I just got a nice off-whiteish organic cotton thermal blanket with an unusual weave from Target, 30% off ($20).

FYI Duck Home doesn't have any bright blankies at the moment. Nor does Target. IKEA could have been a great option but I just couldn't face the Rhodes store madness over the christmas break!!!

    Thanks again all
