We have found sizing all over the place too, our girl is 2 weeks old was 7 pound 6 & fits a 0000 in bonds jumpsuits & wondersuits but pumpkin patch nb & other 0000 brands are all too big, I recommend getting a cpl of the bonds 0000 suits

It works in length too. DD was only 2.1kg but 49 cms long. However she grew super fast and was out of 0000 in length in a week!

I really think only buy a few of each size to start with as well. We bought heaps and everyone gave us baby clothes as gifts so we ended up with 3 tonne of unworn/worn once garments.

Thanks everyone So far we only have one 0000 romper and 3 000, and there are definitely some that would be more pj's and some more day stuff. But I like the idea of a bodysuit with pants and top over it for during the day too - that might work better if we have a long baby so the feet aren't too restrictive. I'm not too fussed about people buying us clothes, as we've asked for people to pool together to get bigger things we really need - like a monitor or basinette attachment for the stroller.

Ahurani, I'm sure if you don't use all your 0000's they could be kept for a second bub, or a friend, or maybe go to an op shop?

My little one was born in April and at 8lb 5oz (3.5kg ish) initially wore both 0000 and 000.

At 8 months and almost 8kg she is wearing mainly 00 but can also wear 0 and some 000 still fit (not the all in ones though cos she is too long).

She has some gorgeous sleeveless outfits but because it has been a cool Summer so far hasn't worn many of them. i reckon you don't buy too far in advance cos what you need might be different to what yo think you will need and you might find you get presents or second hand clothes that bub can wear.

i don't know about the definitions so it is interesting to hear what everyone is calling them.
