Have it professionally fitted in one carr (the one you will use the most), and watch and ask how they do it,so you can do it between cars. Or pick one to be the family car and only use that one when taking little one out.

I'd just use one car as the family car... that's what we do.
It's not like both of you is going to have the baby at the same time separately iykwim.

I don't think you must have them fitted by law at all...it would be beyond impractical and impossible to enforce.

Installing them is really not complicated...we did it ourselves, always have and frequently change cars.

Limeslice is right. I have a meridan AHR safe and sound (the previous model), and it is very easy to install. I have installed it both forward and rear facing between about 4 different cars.

Our car seats have been moved in and out of cars countless times. I could be wrong, but I think by law they have to be installed correctly, not necessarily by professionals. We had ours done professionally the first time, and now that we know how to do it we do it our selves. There is no way that they can expect them to be professionally fitted each time, people are always moving seats between cars.

We've bought a SnS Meridian too. We're having that fitted to DH's car but also hiring a capsule from the local council for my car for 6 months. Then we'll assess what we need.

we have always done them ourselves, we swap cars around all the time and it depends on where we are going as to whcih car we take. We also gotten new cars recently would cost us a fortune! I watched DH showed me how and I can fit them nice and tight now, its not hard to do once you know what to do.

Ohhh i am looking at getting the maxi-rider AHR, going to buy it tomorrow and get it professionally fitted, i was also told by law they were required to be fitted by a licenced fitter and that we must keep the receipt in the car.
We also hired a car when we went to QLD and the hire company refused to fit it as they were not licenced to do so.

for us 2 cars, 2 kids = 4 seats! there is no way we where going to swap carseats around, so we have seats in both cars, all professionally fitted, they have a special clip called a gator clip that the professional use so if you keep that on, changing constantly will be a pain!
