We've got a baby hammock that we plan to have bub sleep in for the first 3mths or so.... before we move to the cot.
Inside the baby hammock is the mattress insert that it came with and over the top of that i've put a small mattress protector around it (it's one of those small ones that fits around the part of the cot mattress where bub's butt would be if that makes sense).
So this will protect the little cushion mattress from any leaks etc however what about sheets?
I don't have any to fit the hammock I realised!! What should I use and those with hammocks what have you done?
I was just going to put a cotton wrap in the hammock for bub to sleep on..... and bub will be wrapped up anyway.
Thank you Just want to protect the hammock & mattress itself from any leaks or spews etc.
I think your idea of just putting a cotton wrap or some muslin as a sheet would be fine. I am not doing top sheets for our bubs as ours will just be wrapped up as well so I dont see the need for a top sheet. You could also use a cot top sheet folded up and tucked in around the hammock mattress as a bottome sheet.
Someone in my BB group suggested using the terry towelling cloth nappie squares as a mattress protector for a small space as well which I thought was a great idea.
I use a polar fleece type wrap first, then over the top he has either a flannel wrap or a cotton jersey wrap over the top of it. We bought ours second hand and I felt the mattress was a bit worn. There is a seller on ebay who sells specific Amby sheets too hun. Worth a look if you want the fitted ones but I find just normal sheets/wraps work fine.
OK thanks girls. I think I might just use wraps and blankets on the bottom where bub lies over the mattress and have the mattress protector underneath incase of leakages! hehe
And bub will be wrapped in a light cotton muslin wrap too.
we got our amby the other day, and the "sheets" are just bits of cotton that have been shaped and elasticised like a fitted sheet - i figure anything that protects the mattress (even a flannelette nappy) would suffice - just make sure it doesn't have any lumps in it when you wrap it around (for babies comfort)
if you have an old cotton or flanelette sheet, chop it down, get someone to over lock the edges and hey presto - cheap cover! the expense of getting the proper "fitted" sheets is a bit exorbitant to be honest - if ours wear out, i'll get some made to be honest - much cheaper!
