hello,
I work in a pharmacy and had a training on a breast pump the other day, as we will soon be hiring them out (wont mention names) the rep who was training us said some interesting things regarding sterilisation of baby equipment.
I was under the impression that ALL baby items were to be sterilised untill at least 6 mths of age ( milton seems to be a bit old hat these days but steaming, boiling etc....)
well, she told me that some hospital,( didnt name it) did all these studies on bottles etc, with half sterilised and the other not, and the bacterial growth on both was negligable. apparantly this is because we are a western civilisation (!) and have clean water.
hmmm, anyway, just wondering if anyone else had heard or read anything similar, as I dont feel comfortable telling people this kind of thing as I havent seen the studies etc. IYKWIM?
any help or your views would be appreciated.
thanks.
