just wondering about cot underlays or lambswool for winter warmth???
melb winter nights get so cold and bitter and so does my house!
i cant afford to run my central heating even on low overnight everynight
currently my children use a fitted sheet underneath
on top sheet, fleecy blanket, doona and 2.5grobag
plus on colder nights we double layer Pj's
now it sounds like a lot but their icy fingers and faces tell the story
so my question is does anyone use cot size underlays or lambswool?
do they keep your children warmer?
are they easy to keep clean and wash?
or do you just use a normal blanket under the fitted sheet to get the same effect?
I think they are considered a SIDS risk, espesh lambswool. Flannelette sheets might help though and I am sure a lambswool underlay would be pokay for the bigger kids...I just remember reading somewhere about not using them for little bubbas......also icy fingers and hands don't mean they are cold...the paed told me as long when you touch their breastbone it is warm they are okay...little ones don't feel the cold in the extremities the same way us old farts do!
im looking for the bed warmth for a 3yr old and 18month not the soon to be newborn(as he will be having nightfeeds and sleeping in my room)
but ill have to go buy flannette sheets
i know about cold hands dont mean cold bubbas but i still stress so much lol
next time i go babystore ill ask the staff
xoxox
I got my kids flannelette sheets from Target. They are good quality. In my DD's room we run a little oil heater. It has a timer and I have it timed to go on at around 11pm-5am. I have it set so it just takes the chill off the room. It doesn't seem to have made any difference to our electricity bill.
Hi hun, we have a sheepskin underlay and flannel fitted sheet in DS's cot and he loves it. I have the bonds wondersuit on him too and he sleeps in a warm grobag. I do have a small oil heater in his room but it's costing us a small fortune. He ends up in our bed most nights anyway
