    Travel change mat?

For those with kids, do you actually use a travel change mat when you're out? (ie one of those commercially made plastic backed things that come with most nappy bags? Or do you use a disposable mat or just a terry flat?

I can't find a 'nappy bag' that I like at a reasonable price and think I'll be much better off just making up a little travel pack of baby things to throw into an existing hand bag. Not sure what the state of change tables in supermarkets etc is and whether those big PVC things are really necessary.

I found they were too small as bub got bigger so I kept a large muslin square in my bag for changes! Definitely not a necessity when a terry flat or other wrap does the same thing!

The disposable ones are fine, fold small but are large enough to keep bubs off the (often manky) change tables.

I usually leave mine at home and just change her on whatever surface is available, but sometimes I'll leave the nappy bag behind and take the change mat with a couple of nappies stuffed into it. I reckon a nappy bag is pretty much essential, not only for nappies but for toys and whatever else you want to carry around. Mine's always full

I use either one of the disposable ones or I've also bought one of the itti bitti change mats - which is gorgeous, a lot bigger than the silly ones attached to nappy bags (which are generally useless) but still folds up nice and small.

i use an itti bitti one, (or flannel wrap or other bit of cloth). way easy to throw in the washing machine. i reckon easier to clean than the plasticky ones too.

I use mine all the time and DS is 2 and 1/2. I just throw it in my bag with some nappies, wipes and nappy sacks. I just use it under his bum. We have just been overseas, and I used it in the boot of car, on the grass at park, in the parent change rooms, on a friends bathroom floor (wasn't about to stink out their lounge-room, haha), and on our bed.. Pretty much wherever he needed changing. I just use a wipe to wipe it down, regardless of anything touching it or not.

I don't use the nappy bag though, just the mat..

tbh I have never used the one that came with my nappy bag, but then I can count on one hand then number of times I've used the nappy bag fot it's intended purpose lol. I think you either are or are not a nappy bag person and I am not. I have a wetbag with essentials that fits in my (large) handbag. I either make do with what I have or change them in the car.

I use mine all the time. Now that DD is getting bigger, I make sure it is at least under her bottom. I prefer to have that under her than lay her on something that another baby may have been changed on without a mat and not wiped down....

Me too. Use mine all the time. Being water resistant has been very helpful at times
