I Have heard that the Kala cups are good (google it!!) I dont have any yet, but I keep meaning to get some.
LOL it seems a bit of a science trying to choose a sippy cup!!!
What am I even looking for. I mean, the only thing I know is that I don't want one that is going to leak it ifs left on its side or pop open if its thrown on the ground.
Can't really test that in the shops or online!
So which are the good ones? Which are the ones definately not to buy?
I Have heard that the Kala cups are good (google it!!) I dont have any yet, but I keep meaning to get some.
for me, the most important feature was a screw on lid, becuase DS would bite the lids off and tip the water out if they were just the push on type.
I also particularly didnt like a certain brand rhyming with 'lines', becuase even I couldnt get any liquid out of their suppy cups - no wonder DS had trouble.
We used some TT and some Mag-Mag cups.
You need one thats non spill but also one that dosent have a teat that the kids can put their finger into and break it. Nuby sippy cups do that and my DD would make such a mess. Also IMO dont put milky drinks into and cup that has a straw. There a nightmare to clean. I have so many brands of sippy cups but Ive never been totally satisfied with any of them. When you find one let me know. Avent do great ones but can be pretty pricey but most of the avent pieces are interchangeable with each other so if you lose a piece you can replace it easily.
advent they are awesome... and if you already have the advent bottles you can just buy the sippy cup lid![]()
Eva had a great Tommee Tippee one, which she could get the water out of fine, and it didn't leak anywhere. She used it from about 6 months... until she lost it a few months ago, and I didn't want to pay so much to replace it.
I bought a set of 2 Little Wishes ones from woolworths, but I am going to take them back, not even I can suction water from them, so god knows how Eva is supposed to!
I actually find the Take n Toss range to be great. Because there are no annoying valves or teats, yet the water flow through the holes isn't too overpowering. But Jazz might still be a bit young for them. (& I don't toss them, they are great to keep reusing!)
yeah i agree i have avent ones and they are great
screw top lid can't be popped off
does not leak no matter what
can't chew the top till it leaks
bit expensive though
I also like the ones i bought from target they are a bit bigger type of cup with a straw that flips open it does not leak and ds does not chew at it either. Can't remember the brand and its not on the cup but i really like them i got 2 for $10. So i now have 5 of them lol

I got our newest one from Target. Its a Nuby.
Its handles & lid have little bumps all over for teething.
It has a silicon teat that doesn't spill when its just laying there, or gets dropped, but if you squeeze the teat it does.
Which does make it a bit easier for them to get some out.
He likes it best out of the ones we've had before.
I too love the Take n Toss ones. Their just so simple to use.
My favourites would definitely have been the Avent ones that go onto the bottles.
As much as Harry loved them, I hate the Tommy Tippee/Nuby ones... they're great until little fingers get in there and poke a hole, or little teeth... and the teats aren't replaceable, so I ended up with about 6 of them before I changed over to the Take n Toss ones.
For my littel horror of a two year old he can open the take and toss ones by either using his teeth or throwing it on the gorund and the lids pops off and we have water everywhere. So these definitly don't work for us, although i do have some for DD to try![]()
I have a tommee tippee one for Miss M and also a pigeon one that does three stages of development.
But usually I just use one of her smaller bottles cos I'm lazy and its just there.. lol
DS uses the toss ones....
ETA - I have a Kala one and it is BRILLIANT - no spills.
We have a Tommy Tippee one for Bubbablue. It seems to be really good.
I don't remember what type we had for DS1, which sucks cause it was reallyyyyyy good.
I got a spill proof cup a while ago which cost me about $10 and DD doesn't like it at all. She just bites it but doesn't actually drink from it so I ended up getting a pack of 6 of the take & toss cups. They do leak a little which is the downside, but DD loves using them. I didn't even have to "teach" her to use it, I just handed it to her and it went straight in the mouth and she started sucking. She just takes a small mouthful at a time, swallows, then takes another mouthful and this goes on for a while, then she keeps taking mouthfuls and blowing raspberries and it becomes a game. Thankfully I only use water so it doesn't create a sticky mess.
From past experince an expensive excerise finding the right one for your child!!!
I have used a Mag Mag and I was eyeing off the new Nuby ones the other day, but wanted to hear from someone else what they were like before I "invested" in one.(Previous Nuby was good but kids bit the top off,( bit of a worry) and ripped the top open by sticking fingers in!!!) I agree with the others some of them you can't even get the water out of???? Straw types are good but I always worry about the cleaning of them??? I only use water in them but still....food from there mouth goes down the straw.
In the end I bought cheapies or take and toss, and did'nt worry about water leaking tooo much. Or a small bottle....
Nuby all the way. I have tried about a million different ones over the years (I have a bit of a sippy cup obsession) and they are the absolute best. Through all the stages from sippy cups to straw cups they are ace.
If you wanted to have a look at some different sippy cups IRL, you could just invite me to coffee at M one day you know![]()
we have a Happy Baby one and its great.
Has rubbery top that they need to squeeze in mouth to open small valve, does not leak and DS loves chewing on top.
It has 2 handles and it is slanted so they dont need to tip as far to get a drink.
Also have take and toss but they leak when chucked on floor or tipped upside down.
i have to say advent im still using the same sipper cup for my third dd its gone throu 2 kids and i only had to replace the non spill seal for hygiene reasons its been droped thrown washed a million times and is still non spill and all in one peice.![]()
