When you do need to use blankets try and use 100% cotton. I find it breaths so bub doesn't get sweaty.

DS was born in november and had a mattress protector and fitted sheet.
He was wrapped til 5 months, then had a gro-bag after that.
The nice cot quilts we bought were used as floor rugs for playtime until he was about 18 months old when he came out of the grobag and started using them.

This bub will be a winter baby so not sure yet but planning to do the same, maybe thicker wraps and different clothing underneath.

yep just use a mattress protector and sheet. cotton in summer and flannel in winter. DS sleeps in a sleeping bag.
when he was tiny (in a moses basket) I had a sheet on the bottom, he was wrapped and then a blnket tucked in tight . he went into sleeping bag at about 3 months.
