I've got an Oregon Scientific monitor that I got from Target. $99, it's pretty compact and the parent unit hangs around your neck on a lanyard. It has the time and the room tempreture on it too. Our house is two storey and I spend a lot of time out the back in our garage where my studio is, and even with all that I very rarely have dropouts. I'd highly recommend it.
I have a Roger Armstrong too and after 4 years, it's still working well.
I did get an Angelcare monitor on sale at Target when I was prg with DS but when we brought him home it wouldn't work so we took it back. Am a bit reluctant to buy another one.
I've got an angel care monitor. I love it! It worked great with the sensor pads and now DD is older it works just as well without them as a normal monitor! Never had issues with the air con or anything like that!
