I bought some $4 stoage boxes with out lids from Kmart, put labels on the front of them and use them as 'draws' in my kids built ins babe.
So now Vy has a draw full of skirts, one with t-shrits, one with PJ's ect...as for hanging space..I also bought some timber pants hangers from the regect shop, 3 for $2 and the pants go on the bottom and the hanger is still little enough to put the matching top ect on over the top....I can send you one in your parcel babe so you can have a look if you like
we has a reject shop nearby Maz - might go have a look at those ones
i'm definitely someone that prefers clothes to be hung up (it's easier to send DH to grab an outfit that is hanging up as opposed to sending him to raid numerous drawers looking for matching bits!) - if they are little enough for a teeny bubbas stuff, might have to get mum to go shopping for gremlin....
thanks for the suggestion Christy - i'm just not sure about folding stuff and still keeping it together kwim? DH is a shocker at matching stuff, which would drive me insane!
I fold alot of MAckenzie's skirts and pants over hangers - well more the pants. ALso I don't worry too much about keeping them as groups - they end up being worn in all sorts of combinations!
So is mine!! When they are under 1, I generally fold them together, so they are matching. I had a box for socks and a box for hats and a box for singlets and then matching cool weather and matching warm weather... I tried to make it easy for DH, but even then Jovie would have blue socks, purple singlet, and he would somehow undo the matching set and have red pants and a pink top we call them Daddy dress ups here....
DH has just reminded me we have a tallboy that we never put together under our bed, which would probably fit in the bottom of the wardrobe to store some things in - will have to have a look at reject shop for the hangers too. i went to ikea site and had a look at the drawer dividers in the catalogue (went looking for the hanging thing first, but got side tracked) - might have to get some of them for our drawers - to seperate singlets, jumpsuits sleep suits... and of course, if i do that, and then put outfits in the divided bits, he can't REALLY mess up too bad can he....?
either that, or maybe i should just give up on the idea of DH getting her clothes for her...
some of the newer skirt hangers (adult) are fairly slimline and the clips move along the rail. I bought a heap and still use them for Darcy's stuff - just move the clips out a bit as she 'graduates' sizes.
They are fine enough that they don't look out of place with her pink plastic hangers.
I have seen some wooden kids hangers with a bar at BigW I think....but I reckon they'd be pretty exxie.
i have just had a FANTASTIC BB member ping me on msn that she has heaps of brand new ones that i can buy - both for tops and pants - gotta love such an awesome community! love love love it! problem solved!
I brought fancy ones and MIL got me some of the plastic triangle ones from a $2 shop..... But i found that it was easier to keep the pant hangers that i got when i brought stuff.... (you know the black ones with the plastic clamp type things???)
Most of my son's clothes are in a set of drawers. We then have a couple of those hanging storage things - one for shoes & hats & the other for bibs & bunny rugs. For proper shirts that I want to hang I have the baby & kids hangers from the cheapy shops. Pretty much all of those places have them.
Last week at Coles I bought a pack of 20 skirt/pant hangers for $2 - the metal ones - they were throwing them out cheap & they could easily be adjusted to put bubs skirts on - some of mine are being used for a 6 year olds clothes & they could easily be adjusted smaller. My mums Coles had them too so it might be worth a look at your local stores.
BG - most of the clothes DD has are hung on Target hangers... as in the ones they use in store. This has happened because often the checkout person forgets to take them off or I've put a heap of stuff on layby and when they pack those, they don't seem to take the hangers out... So although we have purchased plain hangers (from Target), we have also "inherited" a heap. You could also try asking your local Target/KMart for any spares they have...
