Angry Accuracy of HPT's - what does it really mean?

Ok, so you buy a HPT that says on the packet that it is 99% accurate* and says you can use it 5 days before you miss your period.

    WHAT DOES THIS REALLY MEAN?

    From the First Response website:

"In clinical testing, FIRST RESPONSE® detected the hormone levels in 69% of women 4 days before their expected period, in 83% of women 3 days before their expected period, in 93% of women 2 days before their expected period, and in 93% of women 1 day before their expected period."

Yep - that's right - we are being conned.

Only 69% accurate one day AFTER the earliest time when they say you can start testing.

Couldn't find any info on when it is actually 99% accurate!!!!!!!

I find it all a bit misleading and deceptive. Surely this is false advertising.
Maybe we should all put in a complaint to Consumer Affairs.
