    Do you get a BFP

If you have an ectopic pregnancy?

I don't think I'm pregnant, as I'm not cycling yet since my last baby (Breastfeeding), but I've been having some sharp pain in my left side over near my ovary and last week I had some red/pink spotting for a day or two. I don't want to buy an HPT if it won't help me rule out ectopic pregnancy. I'm thinking it is probably a cyst, but I want to be sure.

    Thanks!

From what i just read (google) eptopic pregnancy has (or can have) such a low % of the hormone needed to detect pregnancy on most over the counter tests that it 'can' produce a false negative. BUT, from all i read, more BFP's are deteced than BFN's when it comes to an eptopic and HPT's.

If you honestly think and believe it could be, id get off to the dr JUST IN CASE!

As im sure you know, eptopic pregnancies are (can be) life threatening!

    All the best

from my understanding most ectopics show up on HPT's. if you're having pain, i would go to the doc - they should be able to arrange a transvaginal scan and check for cysts on ovary or BT's to check for pregnancy. if it's enough to concern you, get it checked

fwiw - i was having severe pain on my right ovary area for a while. had it checked, and it came back completely clear - but until it was checked, i was a mega stress head! definitely worth getting things checked!

Thanks Ladies. I need to go to the GP anyway, so I'll mention it while I'm there. I'm pretty sure it's nothing but a cyst.
