Hello girls. I'm not sure where I should be posting this so mods please move it if it's in the wrong place.
I'm after a bit of advice/stories of hope.
I am 15DPO, AF was due on Friday. when she didn't come I took a HPT which was neg. On Sat I had my usual day before AF spotting. It went on all day, was brown but not heavy enough to need a pad. On Sunday I had no bleeding at all. I was expecting AF and didn't even have any spotting. I did another HPT (an internet cheapie) and it was very, very faint but myself and DH saw it. when we were out I bought a FRER and got a faint line and then did a clearblue and it came out pregnant 1-2.
so- I am pregnant. I realise that. My worry is coming from the fact the tests were so faint. With dd they were quite strong at 15DPO. (mind you it has just occured to me that as she was an IVF bub she probably implanted a lot earlier as she was placed directly into my uterus- at day 2- rather than having to come down the tubes - is this true???). I went to the docs this morning and their test was neg. He sent me for a blood test and I have to wait until tomorrow. I'm so worried that this little bub isn't going to hold on. The faint lines and spotting have me freaking out. Can anyone offer any hope?
I got a faint pos on a FRER and a 1-2 on clearblue digi and my hcg that day was only 20. It might be very very early days. Best of luck and I hope this baby sticks for you.
My guess would be that you are pregnant and your HCG is very low because it is early days yet. It is not that uncommon to have not have a BFP until after AF is due. Doctors tests also tend not to be as sensitive as some of the HPT that you can buy so if your HCG is below 50 (which I suspect it is), the doctor's one didn't pick it up.
If your bub only implanted a week ago (which is totally possible), your HCG would be low. The initial numbers don't actually matter that much as far as pregnancy viability ... everybody has to have really low HCG at some point (which is why your line was faint), and lots of people probably aren't testing when it is that low because it does usually happen before AF is due. What matters as far as viable pregnancy is how HCG is increasing. So you may need another blood test in a couple of days and if your HCG numbers come back low, your doctor will probably send you for another BT in two or three days just to check it is increasing.
I think having no line on a test and now a faint line, is a good sign that it is increasing. You can sort of judge by tests getting darker over time too but the issue with that is that not all tests are created equal - even tests from the same box can require varying amounts of HCG to to react with the dye or there can be different amounts of dye in the test strip so it will be darker/lighter depending. Making HPT is not an exact art.
So it sounds like it is viable to me and your are just in the very very early days which is why you are having faint lines.

Oh hunny, I understand your anxiety. But it is all totally normal to have all of these things too. For anyone's pregnancy. With DS2 my pg tests were quite faint until I was about 19dpo. I'm sure everything is as it should be.
My Hpt's don't always come up in the first few days after AF is due. I wouldn't worry about it being faint, implantation times can vary, it may have been implantation when you had the spotting so maybe give it a few more days and see if it's darker. CONGRATULATIONS
mine was extremely faint the first day, to the point i almost thought id imagined that line, i waited 2 days before testing again, and it wasnt much darker, then another 2 days i tested again and it was nice and strong. point is dont stress it, wait for your hcg, and get another bt in a couple of days to confirm its increasing. the spotting has happened to lots of women i know too.

A line is a line is a line! Just Me said it all - It's all dependent on how much hcg detection stuff they put on the strip, so judging hcg levels by how dark they get isn't very precise. Doc tests aren't very sensitive, your levels might just be under. The doubling is more important then initial level, and you'll find that out through blood tests
