New to this! Any advice appreciated!

Hellooooo lovely ladies. I'm new here, just started TTC, stopped brith control before Xmas and started trying throughout Feb. I feel sooooo stupid and mad at myself that I didn't chart my AF AT ALL!! Also I knew nothing about ovulation so we just went For it and now I'm driving myself mad trying to guess my dates and doing HPT every day with BFN. I reckon I must be due my AF but unsure about date of last AF and also cycle length but I think it's 28 from what I remember before I started contraceptive pill 20 years ago!!!!

In retrospect, now that I have read up on how ovulation works (!!!) I reckon I ovulated around 6th Feb because i had the Mucus symptom, and also that seems about right for 14 days roughly since my last AF.

Unfortunately from what ive read on Here , that would mean im unlikley to Be preggers because today would be 18 days pst ovulation and surely a HPT would be showing postive by now. I've been having mild cramps last few days. Usually only get one day of cramps before AF. We were on a long distance Holiday when we started TTC so I'm just praying that I ovulated late in Feb meaning BFP may not show up yet. Maybe the long flight delayed OV. Well if I get AF at least I know we need to start trying again about day 6 to day 17. The waiting is awful!!! I was so convinced it would happen straight away!!! Is it possible to get pregnancy symptoms before getting a BFP? I'm just praying that the absence of AF is a good sign!!!

Yes, it's definately possible to get pregnancy symptoms before getting a BFP, in fact, a lot of people do! I know that for me my BB's started hurting a week before AF was due. I know it's hard not to do HPT's on a daily basis (or even several times a day), but I always tried to tell myself that if I was UTD then I would still be UTD when I tried on 'x' date. Perhaps leave it a couple of days and if AF still hasn't shown then test again???? Good luck!

Thanks for responding, I still havent had AF and am deffo overdue now, i just dont know exactly how many days. Ive been having mild cramps for 5 days or so now, amd yes i admit ive been testing everyday , the latest being yesterday morning, and still negative. Not going to test now till Sunday (like your way of thinking on how to hold off on the temptation) , then itll have been 2 weeks since me and DH last DTD, so surely will show pos by then, if indeed i am pos! Well anyhows, i have appointment with the nurse on monday so if either AF or BFP dont show up, i will ask for a blood test....

My mum didnt have any pregnancy symptoms with me and i have a few friends that didnt either so maybe my body is just slow and not producing hcg fast...heres hoping!!

I am far too impatient for this!!!! worth the wait though

    Thanks, best wishes

I didn't have any real symptoms at all. In fact, I often worried I'd had another miscarriage (or one was going to happen) due to the fact I didn't 'feel' pregnant. I hope AF stays away and you have a wonderful BFP on Sunday. Good luck!

Thanks Chody. Im losing hope, im going to see what the nurse says on monday, but beginning to think im just wishful thinking that i would get pregnant first try, and also getting BFN when i am so far past ovulation is not going in my favour at the moment! Will see what sunday brings.

Ive ordered some super sensitive preggo tests (10 mui) online.

I hope i dont have some gynae problem that is delaying my period, that would be a horrible coincidence, as ive had no problems gynae wise for 20 yrs, so it would be just my luck to have a cyst or something on first month ttc!

    Best wishes
    Louise

Well i just thought id post an update, still no AF and still BFN even on supposed super sensitive 10miu tests. So, Its highly unlikely im UTD but today the Nurse took blood test for serum HCG, hopefully results back tommorrow. its a whopping 19 days since we DTD and waaay longer since i must have ovulated, if i did at all! I must be at least a week late by now, and i rekon its infact around 2 wks late.

I suppose the pill has masked any irregularities in my cycle for all these years.

Ah well need to try harder! Must start temping, charting and of course doing the deed!

I suppose my question though, is because i havent had AF does tat mean im not going to ovulate? I feel like im in limbo and cant figure my cycle out now so will ve in the same position this month, not knowing exactly my dates.

Ill let you know if my blood test is, by miracle of god, positive!!!!

Well if you DTD around O time (lets say O day for ease), then AF is only 5 days overdue.... The first time round I didn't get a BFP until it was almost a week overdue (admittedly I waited a few days between testing). Good luck with the blood test. I've heard that pregnancy tests don't show positive for some people until they are further in....
