    OPK confusion!

I tried MB with little success, I've now moved onto OPKs, which seem to have worked for this first month.

Just a quick question though, the packet tells me that once I get a positive result (which means I've had an LH surge), should have intercourse within 24-48 hours. Does that mean that I ovulate the next day? The day after? I'm unsure what to take as my O day. So this month, I got a positive result on day 18, does that mean I O'd on day 19, or 20?? Just so I know when to take a HPT.

I am no expert, but no-one had replied so I though a little bump might be what you needed, Erin!

I think once you get a +opk, you can O anytime within the next 12-48 hours. It's not that much more accurate than that, I don't think. Maybe someone else can help?

Sorry thought I would say hi and I think you're right JLeigh. From what I understand once you get the Surge of LH on the OPK you can O between 12-24 Hours from then. So your best chances of falling pg is at that time
    I hope this helps

Sorry my love for not replying sooner. Once you get an LH surge you usually ovulate up to 48 hours later but it can be a bit later rarely... So you are advised to begin BDing from whene you get the positive for every second day - some get jiggy with it every day...

You cannot ovulate until that surge happens - sperm remains viable longer than the ovum so if you bd on d18 and then cd20 but you ovulated on cd19 the sperm & the egg will still be viable if that makes sense!

All I can say is I had a positive on the OPK on a Monday.
We DTD the Saturday before, also DTD on the Monday & Tuesday.
I did an early pregnancy test 12 days later, before my period was due, which was positive.
I don't know the exact hours it precedes ovulation but I hope this helps.
    Good luck!!

Just wanted to ask you which brand of OPK you used. I have been using the Pregnosis one and First Results but no results

Thanks for replying everyone! I did think that it was a little vague, spose it's just an excuse to DTD a lot!
