I have decided to work on the lunar calendar and start the year with the Year of the Rabbit and wipe last year as a rough one (serious understatement!!!) because it was the Year of the Tiger. Roll on February 3rd!!!!
Sounds like a good plan Michelle. It's very festive here in China with the New Year approaching & we have a whole cupboard full of fireworks just waiting to be lit. Alan had a blast shopping for them all. We were such dags last night & lit a little grenade style one on the gas & threw it out the window. Was hilarious. We were still laughing like kids this morning. The kids were being the adults & watching tv while we were locked in the kitchen arguing over who was going to light the firework. I won (of course) & made Alan light it. I already have a hand injury - hahaha.
I'll light a couple for you & I'll get Alan to take footage & I'll e-mail it.
I always wanted fireworks at my wedding - was a childhood dream of mine, so Alan got me a box especially for me. The big flower type ones that shoot right up in the sky. Love it!
Xinnian Kuaile!!! ( I can't figure out how to do the proper marks above the letters though).
Michelle - Thinking of you today. It's a tough day for most mums but particularly so for you. Good luck with the *chat*. I hope it all goes smoothly and he has a wonderful first day!
Janie - It's so weird just feeling like you know what's to come. Doesn't help I had my cards read and was told I wasn't done yet and there'd be one more. So stoopid, but I can't stop thinking about that because she was right about a lot of other things. In your case, if you really do not want another pregnancy, I highly recommend the mirena...no whoopsies happening here babe! *Sigh* LOL.
Mako - Best of luck with DH's appt today. I hope you guys get some answers soon, it must be awful to feel that sick all the time - kinda like the joys of MS?!!
OK ladies....I have a sinking feeling that after 5 years of bfing the dreaded mastitis has finally caught up with me. I woke this morning feeling a bit achey and not quite right. Put it down to stress and thought I must have just slept in an odd position. But then I got in the shower and my boobs are sooooo sore, one more so than the other and it has feint red-ish mark on it, very sore to touch. Sound familiar anyone? I'm not 100% sure because I've never had it before and I'm thinking it could be hormonal because something odd happened yesterday too - I got 'af' if you could even call it that. I've had one in 4 years (the only one I had between L and D) and then one 'episode' of spotting since I had the mirena put in. I wouldn't even call yesterday spotting but I did notice something not quite 'normal'.
You've got to be kidding right??!! Why now after feeding for so long and never having it and now is just the most *awesome* time for me to get it when I'm here on my own, haven't even sorted a GP yet, no one to help me with the boys and two kids starting school this week. Grrrrrrrr. Am going to try to see a Dr tomorrow....wish me luck!!

Willow, big big hugs, mastitis bites the big ones!!! Try not to stress though, you may not even need the GP. Today it's important to feed feed feed from the affected side. Of course, being careful to drain the other side well also. You can try using a warm pack (or warm wet cloth etc) BEFORE a feed, and then immediately AFTER apply a cold pack. Try positioning D so that his chin is lined up with where the redness is. Can you feel any lumps? I'm sure it's sore to touch, but as you know, it's important to clear any blockages. Gravity helps too, so going on all fours, say on the bed, with D lying under you (if possible, I don't know how wriggly he is. And yep, I know that's a great visual, but it really can help!).
And don't hate me for saying it, but when one has mastitis, it's really important for one to rest (running off and hiding now!). I'm sure that's really hard for you, but once treated, mastitis disappears as quickly as it starts! So if you can get onto it, you'll feel heaps better. If after trying all those things today you're getting worse tomorrow, then it'll be a good thing to go to the GP and get some ABs. But many mums find they can treat it themselves at home, if they get onto it before they're flat on their back.
Text or ring me if you want, I'll check in on you later xoxo
Thanks so much Janie! Jumped onto the ABA forum but they are pretty slow to answer over there. I just fed him so might sneak in a feed again this arvo (he is down to 3 a day now) and then try the heat and cold packs. Then when DH gets home I'll jump in a hot shower and give it a good massage. I can't feel any definite lumps though? Definitely one area that is sore but not a lump as such. I'm actually feeling OK now so I'm not sure if that's what it is but will do all the things you've said just in case. I forgot I actually made appts for the boys with the local GP for tomorrow, just to suss him out and get a referral for a pead for D. So I canceled L's appt (I forgot he starts preschool tomorrow!) and took the appt for myself instead. So I have it if I need it. Let's hope I don't. Having your breast examined is not the nicest of introductions
On a brighter note - School drop off went well this morning. I nearly cried at one point but sucked it up for her sake. The principal asked if there were any new students starting today and hers was the only little hand that shot up Will see how she goes on pick up this afternoon. One down, one to go.
Michelle - How did you guys go today? Have been thinking of you all morning.

ROFL! When I had it I couldn't feel any lump at all, but it was definitely mastitis. Just makes it easier if you can figure out where the blockage is, that's all. I had the red sore area though, ouchies. It hit me really hard, I was flat on my back 30 minutes after first feeling unwell. But 24 hours after starting ABs I was heaps better. Good luck babe!!!
Willow How did you get on at the GP? Big squishy coming your way.
Freya Congratulations.
Sorry for the lack of personals today..I'm trying to get my mind back into work mode and trying to get last minute things sorted for DS before he goes to Pre School in a few days. Oh and for those of you who asked..DH has to have an abdominal scan or xray done but the DR is convinced he has stomach ulcers.
Janie - You used my name. Tsk. Tsk. LOL! Dr was OK. Had a quick look, said it's definitely mastitis and gave me a script for Abs. She did say 3 times to make sure I keep feeding. She gets points for that. So apart from asking 'Are you breastfeeding? (der) Are you feeding him? (pointing to D) How old is he?' *sigh* She passes for now. There are a few other Drs at the practice though, so think i will try a different one next time. So I'm going to take the ABs because I cannot get sick right now and nothing else is working. I dont know how the hell to unblock it??!! I did realise though that I didn't use a cold pack yesterday, only a heat pack. So will do that this afternoon. Can I only do this when he feeds or any time? Like heat pack, massage, cold pack??
Oh crapity crap. Totally selfish today but given yasi is tending north we've decided to stay for now. The warning extends hundreds of kms west so we could end out stuck out west in a dodgy caravan park. We'd much rather be here in our cyclone rated house with the army evacuaion centre only 7 mins away.
Spring, it sounds sensible to me. It is blowing a gale here, and I keep thinking of you, and how much worse it will be there
Willow, I'm SO SO sorry!!! All changed now. Well, she sounds okay. I totally, totally understand you not wanting to let it get to the next stage. At least she told you to keep feeding! Glad you're on the way to sorting it. and yep, I would use the cold pack after massage too, it will help reduce inflammation, which will help it to clear. it's acutally more important than the heat.
