Parenting After Miscarriage or Loss - January 2010

Hi everyone,
I havent posted in for so very long, but i need to go somewhere :( I am 15wks pregnant and am so terrified its doing my head in (I'm heading into my danger time :( ) I hope you all dont mind

I truly do understand your terror - as you know I went there 6 times & every day is hard. Are you on any meds this time? Are you having regular u/s?

I'm wrapping my arms around you and giving you a big, warm hug. :hug:

Oh Jo - you are most welcome to post in here - and congratulations for finding the courage to try again, that shows some strength for sure. You know there's nothing I can say to ease your terror - execpt I wish I had a time machine to shoot you a few more months down the track. I'm not sure if you ever got any answers about why you lost you precious babes, that might help this time around? I'm sure you have everything done you possibly could, now to sit back and "enjoy" the roller coaster ride again. Hang in there babe, as best you can, lean on us, and remember to breathe and keep talking to your precious growing baby.

Mako: I hope 5 Feb comes quickly for you. I don't know anything about Dr S but from the opinions of the other ladies he sounds like the 'go to' man. Perhaps explain to DH that more testing may just give you the answer you need.

Bun: wow, a newborn and visitors is a busy household. Glad to hear DS is doing so well and that you've got those stitches removed. He is such a cutie pie.

Lee: It just so wonderful to hear you talk about Flynn. He is one lucky little guy to have such a wonderful mum.

Deb: I agree with Mako. I only ever hear people whinge about having their kids home so it is a nice change to hear someone sad to that hols are over.

Michelle: Yay for 2nd Trimester. You go girl.

Freya: Bummer about the timetable, that has got to throw a spanner in the works. Hope it sorts out for you. 3 short days may be better than 2 long days for the boys.

Bek: Hun, cuddles for you :hug: I hope your mum is ok.

BW: Good luck for your first day back. I hope it is a smooth transition for you.

Jayne: I second the poop in the hole. That is what we do around here and the dogs can't stand it. Stops them digging instantly.

Kelly: It's good to hear you're on the improve babe. I'm really glad to read that.

Meg: Wow, sounds like you had a busy night at your place last night. Hope you managed to catch up on some sleep

Bonham: Hope your Dr can fit you in soon and you can get some reassurance that bub is doing great.

Laney: yay for the toothie peg, so glad your little lad is back to his restful nights.


Well we are doing great. Had a really nice day with the family today and even managed to slip in a sleep. Both boys are doing great, just such wonderful little boys so I'm pretty stoked at the moment. DH goes back to work tomorrow but TBH I'm not stressed about being home at all. I feel very relaxed this time and I'm actually enjoying myself instead of being a stress ball.

Spring, It is so nice to hear that you are doing Great and that you aren't worried at all about DH going back to work. It makes the thought of me having two little ones to deal with a little easier.

mako, I will be thinking fo you on the 5th and 11th. I hope that Dr.S is able to give you some answers and support that you need.

Deb, good luck next Thursday. I hope that you enjoyed your last day of school holiday.

BW, I hope your first day back to work went well and that it wasn't too hard on DS.

Bun, Sounds like BF is going great. I wish that I would have had such an easy time of it.

Jo, I was just thinking about you the other day! Congratulations on 15 weeks. I know that it has most likely been a worry filled and long 3 months for you. :hug: Are you taking blood thinners?

Laney - DS is sooooo not one for sleeping in either.. it's just the time difference after being in Perth that's finally given us a sleep in!!! He was up at 7.15am this morning.. which is still brilliant.. but I'm guessing by tomorrow we'll be back to the 5.30am or 6.00am that we usually get!!

Spring - Good on you hun.. it's so great to read that you're enjoying it all so much!!

Bonham - How are you going hun? Thinking of you.

Mako - Who is this Dr S that everyone keeps talking about??

Deb - As the other girls have said, it's so great to hear a Mum that doesn't want her kids to go back to school. So glad you enjoyed the holidays and hope that bp is starting to calm down a bit. Hugs.

Big hello to everyone else!

AFM - I'm ok I guess. I'm really just trying to keep busy and stay as happy as possible... more for DS and DH than anything. I'm so thankful that I have them both to keep me on track! I thought I'd take DS to the zoo this morning.. as a bit of a treat because I haven't quite been myself and it's not fair on him.. so I'm going to make a real effort for the rest of the week to do some great things with him and cheer myself up at the same time. DH said last night that he was really worried about me.. I love him to death and he's been wonderful but I just hate having to tell him that all I need are cuddles and kisses from him! Why can't he already know that!? It's not rocket science!! LOL. He definitely made up for it though!!

We have our appointment with our OB tomorrow avo too.. so that will be interesting. Apparently the OB that I have works closely with another OB that specialises in recurrent m/c and has a good track record in getting bubs to stick. So will be very interesting to see what they want to do!!

Well.. must go get ready for the zoo.

Mako - So glad to hear that DH has come around! I thought he would you know. They put up a fight but at the end of the day, they want the same thing we do :hug:

Kelly - Dr S is Dr Sacks, a fertility specialist here in Sydney who specialises in recurrent m/c. He has been on 60 Minutes recently and in the papers here a few times in the last 12 months too. He was our FS when we had DS1 and Deb, BW have also had consults with him. Quite a few girls on the BB threads are patients of his too. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better today - a trip to the zoo sounds great! Just remember that it's important to look after yourself too and it's OK not to be happy all the time. Deb - I know what you mean about the end of school holidays. DD starts school next Monday :( I have very mixed feelings about it. I love having her home but to be honest she's going a bit stir crazy after 7 weeks and I think it'll be good for her to start this new adventure. I am of course very anxious about how she's going to go. When I had my cards read last week I was told she would have a few issues adjusting to school and wouldn't like being told what to do all the time :rofl: That's my girl!

Jo - Welcome back :hug: Such a scarey time but we're all here to help you through.

Don't even talk to me about sleep atm. My wonderful sleeper has not been so wonderful the last few weeks and it's not really getting any better. He is cutting a tooth atm so I'm not pushing the issue too much but I don't want to go down the same road we travelled with L so I need to come up with a plan for settling overnight and kinda try to stick to it and be consistent. His days are pretty good though still so I at least get a break then. L decided to ramp it up a notch or two last night by waking for the first time that I can remember in...well forever. And he was awake for about 1.5 hours :wall: I don't remember him EVER doing that. We had a very big day yesterday swimming in the morning then a BBQ with a house full of people and he was not himself when he woke up from his day nap. I am keeping an eye on him because I suspect he may not be well but just not sure :dunno: He is very whingy and clingy and just not himself. So I didn't get to bed till 12.30pm and then D fed twice before 7.30am. Sooooo tired.

Days like today I am convinced I am done, I don't think I have another 12 months of babyhood left in me after this! :lol:

Kelly Have a wonderful time at the Zoo today. I totally get what you mean about more cuddles and kisses not being rocket science but the same thing happens here :wall:
As for Dr S he also specialises in recurrent m/c's and does heaps of other tests that regular Ob's don't I guess. I've only heard great things about him from a couple of girls in here ;) and I saw him on 60 Minutes a few months back.
Its good that your Ob works closely with someone who also specialises in recurrent m/c's. I truly hope you get some answers hun.

Sorry no time for personals now as I need to get organised. I have to go grocery shopping and then I'm catching up with some mummy's and kids from mothers group. Its my last chance before I go back to work tomorrow.

AFM: i rang my Dr this morning and they gave me an appt time of 3.30pm, so i'll let you know how i got on once i get back home. I'm taking the Blackmores pregnancy & breastfeeding gold tablets again i take them before bed with a glass of milk.

Hi hi hi!!!!!! Thinking of you all, and reading very quickly, but no time to post :(. I have a million things to say to everyone (what's new? :rofl:), but probably no time until the weekend. Very excited about today, my LC is coming this afternoon to work out a plan with me, and we have our first Calmbirth class tonight! Getting my hair cut tomorrow, as well as more nesting, and then the ultrasound and Ob appt is on Friday. Things have settled alot since doubling my dose of Salbutamol, so I'm feeling much more relaxed about things :D. I hate and detest the stuff, it makes me into a very grumpy cow, but it's better than having contractions all the time. Now that I'm not having them, I realise how many I WAS having, if that makes sense.

Kelly, wish I could come with you today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jo - I wish I could make this time easier - I feel for you sooooooo much honey. I remember with great ease how hard this time is. Are you having frequent u/s? Whilst they were reassuring for me - they were also so stressful. The stress did lessen after about 20 weeks for me but increased soon after for me too. Not until she was born did I believe she was alive. I do understand darling. We all do. :hug: We are holding your hands and we are here for you. :hug:

Welllll, think I know what's up with my L Bear...hand foot and bl**dy mouth!!!

DD too it looks like. She has been complaining of a sore mouth for a few days. I had a look and she has an ulcer so I thought that was why.

L was also funny eating yesterday and would often cry while trying to eat. Didn't eat his lunch or dinner. Very unlike him. We kept asking if his mouth was sore but didn't get much from him.

Just changed his nappy and he has a rash all over his nappy area. So I checked his mouth - covered in spots on the inside and he has a few spots starting on his hands. He has had it before when he was about 12 months.

Mannnnn, DD is supposed to be starting school on Monday and we had about 10 kids at our place yesterday for a BBQ :wall: :wall: :wall:

I knew something was up with L....he never wakes in the night like that.

Don't you HATE being the mum who has to make the phone calls telling the other mums that your kids are probably contagious?! :wall:

Willow - Oh NO!!! We've had hand foot and mouth too, but a while ago now. What awful timing :( We're having the same problems with sleep too ATM, E is feeding multiple times a night and sometimes resettles but not always. Feeling a bit under the weather again today myself.

And LOL at Sage and the thunder, we had a loud clap like that here last week and DD1 actually slept through that one - go figure?!

Inanna - Yep, storms here the last couple of days now, another one this morning early on. The one the other night was the longest most rumbly storm I have heard for a long time, it went on for hours. The rain was nice too, we really need it too - more would always be nice! I know how you feel about the kids going back to school too, people always look at me like I'm bonkers when I say that I enjoy having DD1 around and miss her when she goes to school :rolleyes: Hope your appt for Immy with the geneticist goes well :hug:

Jayne I've been meaning to tell you that Sage absolutely loves his trampoline. He hardly gets off it lol. I've just put a plastic tub near the opening so he can climb up himself but I still have to close the zip up on the net. I'm trying to teach him how to close it himself atm. He knows how to open it :rolleyes:

Willow OMG you poor thing. I feel sorry for you having 2 unwell kids. Please don't worry about all the other kids you had there yesterday. I'm sure the parents will be very understanding. No one knows when their kids are going to come down with something so STOP beating yourself up babe :hug: Do you know how long they'll be contageous for? Just thinking about your DD thats all with starting school on Monday. Another :hug: for you.

Willow: OH NO!! that the kids seem to have hand, foot & mouth, how long does it usually last for?. How did the phone calls go?.

Janie: i'm glad to hear the contractions have stopped, even if your now more moody :lol:

AFM: I went to see my Dr about 1hr ago and he confirmed the pregnancy, he asked a few questions and worked out what my EDD will be. He's given me the ultrasound form to have a dating scan done (appt is for next Tuesday @ 2pm) and he also gave me a form to have bloods done @10weeks. He also gave me the ultrasound form & bloods form for the nuchal scan and said to have it done between 12-14weeks.

So atm my EDD is 16th September 2010, but the dating scan next Tuesday will confirm how far along i am and will determine when my EDD is. Dr said it's a Christmas baby. He asked how i'd been and i said good and he asked how i'm feeling and i said scared & nervous and he said that it's normal and that it's my body's way of protecting myself, he also said there was no reason why i wouldnt go onto have a H&H baby and if anything was to happened we'd address it.

I've sent Chris a SMS as i didnt want to disturb him at work and i'll talk to him later tonight. Still not making it official until we're passed the 12week mark.
