Can anyone recommend a good toddler parenting book???

I second toddler tactics and also baby sign. Both have been very helpful for us (especially the signing)

Thanks for the replies ladies. Is it too late to start the baby sign language? I had great intentions of introducing it to her as a baby but never got around to it. When she does have her tantrums it's pretty obvious what it's over - anytime I say the word 'No' lol! I realise it's due to her frustrations and not knowing how to control her emotions, but I just don't know what's the best way to deal with them. She gets so angry and violent! At the moment I try to distract which does work, but I guess I'm just looking to prepare myself for the future. She is a strong willed, stubborn little person (just like her mum!) and I guess I can see that I will need some guidance in the future. I'll definitely look into Toddler Tantics, I've heard great things about Pinky McKay so thanks!

I liked Toddler Taming by Dr Christopher Green. Ignore the heading - it's not really about "taming" your toddler, just good commonsense stuff as to the whys and wherefores of toddler behaviour and some practical, sensible ideas on how to deal with behaviour (also looks at other typical toddler issues such as toilet training, food etc). It's also humourous and doesn't take itself too seriously.

The "No Cry Discipline Solution" is a good one - can't remember the author but it uses a gentle parenting philosophy...

Is the No Cry Discipline Solution in the same series by Elizabeth Pantley? I have her No Cry Sleep Solution and Nap Solution which I enjoyed. Might have to go to the library and see if they have them there before I buy. Thanks for your help ladies!

I agree with AndiE and Vixstar - I'm currently reading Toddler Taming by Christopher Green, and so far it's been great - down to earth, common sense and the humour means that DH is even prepared to learn from it lol. I also really like that he gives examples from his own work and others, it gives me a better idea of how to apply different things, and how sometimes it takes some small tweaks to personalise a method to your family/child/situation, but it can work all the same.

I've not read Toddler Tactics, but it's next on my list!

I started with Robin Barker Baby Love for baby then moved onto her next book
The Mighty Toddler.
Both excellent books and very practical advice.
Also have a look at Raising Girls for the next stage
