I have just picked this up, and even only being through the first couple of chapters I am totally impressed. Finally there is a book that is based on scientific research, rather than individuals opinions... It is so well written, so clear and easy to understand, and it also helps when you can relate things to yourself and your own upbringing.... I am going to be recommending this book to everyone!

I have just borrowed this from the library, and both Shel and I are absolutely in love with it. I recommend it to EVERY parent, it has really helped us all, and we haven't even finished reading it yet! I'm actually going to buy a copy so we have a copy. So glad I decided to borrow it! Even though we did so many of those things, its reassuring that we are in fact doing the right thing for our daughter, and its taught us so many things we didn't know about how certain things effect her.

    It is a fantastic book...

Take note that they are publishing it under a different name now -

"What every parent needs to know"

It's exactly the same book but they felt the name was putting some people off...

Kristie, the name put my DP off, but I made her open it and read it and we're all glad that she did. If its going to entice more people to read it then all the better I think!

I just noticed the paperback with the name change at the shops and was coming here to post, but I've been beaten to the punch.

Great book - and now with a less off-putting name!

Now, I know I'm odd, but the new name really made me recoil. What I need to know? Well, gosh, how about "he's your son, get on with it" - that's what you need to know. Fancy-schmancy ideas about parenting I don't need.

The Science of Parenting was a great book because I love science! I love parenting! Put them together and you get a book I'm proud to have in my sitting room! How can it be off-putting to have something factual in the title rather than another "I'm the best do what I say" sort of title?

I got this book yesterday and am LOVING it so far.
Must give it to my mother to read as she insists on me letting little one "cry it out".
