Oh my gosh how scary for you!!!! I would have reacted the same too!

FWIW, I gave DD (20mths) a piece if carrot while I was making dinner the other day, as she started gnawing at it I thought to myself "I think I read somewhere that raw carrot is a choking hazard" and pretty much right then same thing as your DD - face went red, went quiet, she was choking.
