We have the Philips Avent, can't remember the model number but it's the top model out of three.

Temperature function is very good, can set an alarm to go off if it hits a max or min temperature (depending on your climate!). The actual monitor function is fantastic, has a 300m range and we never get interference. The parent unit is nice and small, has a lanyard and a screen showing the temp and humidity in the room, has up to 5 lights that flash depending on the amount of noise bubs makes, so good if you're in the shower etc you can see the lights flash when you may not hear bub. Our model retails for around $330 but I got it from okmart dot com for about $220 (free postage too I think). Pretty sure they stock the lower models too.

Other features include a soft night light (can turn it off so doesn't always have to stay on), it plays a range of different lullabies (both of these functions you can trigger from the parent unit) and you can talk through the parent unit to the baby unit. This was one thing we splurged on and I don't regret it for a second!

Also regarding the temperature function - I was thinking it was off by a couple of degrees but we have a little digital clock in the nursery that also has a thermometer built in and they always say very similar temps - so it surprised me as the room turned out to be warmer than I thought it felt, if that made sense, so without the monitor I may not have dressed bub as cool or put her aircon on etc.
